LN130 Failed WOF

Post by PAID »

evening all.. got a easy one for ya

failed my WOF a week or so ago.. so now im look for a couple parts (wrecking/wrecker in your area) and answers ;)

need a replacement right-side headlight lens for a 94 surf.. got a couple numbers on it.. 35-47

also failed as "left hand idler arm worn".. im hoping it's something easy like a bushing etc.. can anyone shed some light on the likely problem? i dont even know what an idler arm is :)

thanx in advance for any help on this.. have a good weekend

ok, headlight wise... is it just a standard rectangular lens or is it a shaped one to fit the contour of the truck... having a blonde moment and can't remember... if its a standard rectangular one you can get them cheap as chips from any autoparts store.

The idler arm, turn your steering wheel all the way to the left, and look inside the passenger guard at the chassis rail. There is an arm attached to a tube which is bolted to the chassis rail with three bolts. Thats the idler arm. They wear out, they are not worth repairing. I can get them for you for around $75-80 from memory brand new.

Mine did the same, I got the bushes from toyota, quite expensive i thought for some bushes, cant remember the price now but prob around $30 i think or might have been $20 each. pulled it apart(was quite fun) and put the new bushes in just to find the actual housing was worn  So along came some bad engineering practice which I will not mention and one reconditioned idler arm passing its wof.
