GQ POWER PROBLEMS
I have a GQ auto and have got a problem, We have just finished the hard yakka day for the Blenheim 4WD club
The problem is on a step climb at times it's great heaps of power then at the next hill you put the power is down and it's nothing it just wont rev , This has happened before and everyone thought it was lack of transmission oil as the oil level was low.
Now I'm not so sure all I can think of is fuel yet when you rev it it sounds fine but put it in low range first gear an it's the luck of the draw if you have power or not, Some time's it's great power to burn and you think why is it not like this all the time, Next hill it's a heap of shit again.
Any susjestions

Re: GQ POWER PROBLEMS
Sounds like the trans is going into limp mode(2nd gear only)mine does this sometimes as well, esp if you roll backwards on steep slop while in drive(or any forward gear),trans control unit knows you'r in drive but are going backwards so it thinks theres a problem and goes to limp mode.
Turn vehicle off and restart,TCU resets and you'r away again, not ideal thats for sure as there is next to no power at all.
If the trans oil level was low engine would rev but have no drive(like in N)
Hope this helps

Re: GQ POWER PROBLEMS
This limp mode sounds like the problem, Your right it feels like you are taking off in 3rd gear.
Any way to fix the problem?? or will it just go away

Re: GQ POWER PROBLEMS
Had the exact same problem on my GQ when it was an auto ,may sound dumb but it turned out to be a hairline crack in the tap on the bottom of the fuel filter ,it would suck air and seemed to run out fuel wouldnt rev at all ,was hard to find as no sign of fuel leak ..
