Re: Godley glacier
Its been all quiet on here for a while
17 days before we hit the road to meet you guys in Christchurch on the Saturday morning, so its getting close
( yeah i'm amped
)
We are going to leave you guys on Sunday once we get back to Tekapo, we will stay the night in Tekapo, then cruise down to Wanaka, then the next day to Queens town, then make our way back to Christchurch for Thursday night.
With that in mind, do you guys reckon it would be prudent to invest in a set of chains?? I will be on the MTR's for the trip, but don't want to get stuck on some road somewhere cos some dude in a high vis vest says i need chains

Re: Godley glacier
Sorry to say boys and girls i'm out on this trip as my surf died a tragic death. It seems to have developed some major electrical issues now on top of the injector pump. I'm not going to even look at fixing it till august due to finances and getting the LR going.

Ahh, that sucks mate!!!!!
I've had the injectors done, big ends replaced and fitted some proper 4" springs just for this trip
Will have to drop round to see ya again when where in Chch then
Spose i had better get a couple of spare radiator hoses and some belts too, my spares kit for this truck is almost non-existant atm.

Re: Godley glacier
Hopefully all this rain in the hydro lakes stops so we can have good weather! Just got to get a starter motor and I'm all set.

Re: Godley glacier
Yep, shes snowing hard and settling here in Tekapo.
Still I dont mind, there's plenty of fishing to be done; got my bag limit of Salmon in under 1/2 hr today!
And that wasnt from a farm either.
The lady @ the info centre sold me a magic hook.
Dunno how she knew what one to sell me as she had one eye looking at me and the other was looking for me. I diddnt know where to look.

Re: Godley glacier
The weather wasn't so bad, we camped doown by the lake on Saturday night, and today headed up to the Macauly Hut. Snow got a bit deep for one vehicle travling alone, so stoped about 4K's from the hut
From the road around the Lake Tekapo this morning:

Our upper limit heading up the Macauly

In the sun shine this arvo up at the Round hill ski field

The drive from Chch to Tekapo was exciting tio say the least , horizontal snow and gale force winds etc etc, then all of a sudden in Fairly the weather picked up, the roads were dry and the sun was shining!!!!!
