GQ rear A Frame

Post by DaveM »

Anyone know what the pros/cons are of running this set up, or if it is even legal? Have a mate selling his bolt in kit, will only cost $150 plus freight from oz....

Ill be running an a-frame in my safari as i have now extended the wheelbase. An a-frame will make it the rear axle piviot easier as there are less bushes to bind. You also do not need to run a panhard rod.

You probly wouldnt notice much difference in articulation unless you had a decient lift to take full advantave of the articulation the system will give you.

hi from my experience with the bolt on a arms for nissans gq/gu i wouldent touch one with a ten foot bardge pole,we fitted one to a friends gu ute which he puchased from oz.

it lasted two weekends of hardcore offroading.

slogged out bushes.
broken a arm mount.

the list goes on...........

since then weve used teflon heilms and improved bracing from gussets here and there.

also micheal whites gu winch ute had the same issues as we did and the exact same a arm from oz as we got

Thats because Wizard ones are shite. The bush needs constant re-adjustment, otherwise it just flogs out. They also tear out the upper chassis mount brackets, unless you do further reinforcement/bracing. Wizard sell these a-frames without fully informing punters what they have to do to keep them in good order.

Better to get a Cass Jones built one, or build a triangulated 4 link.
