Well got the belts in, radiator in and full, power steer in and topped up. Just need to get a battery and fuel so I can run it (Hopefully) and bleed everything.
I still have the steering arm to replace and the brakes to refill and bleed but they arent neede to get this thing running which is my big goal (before August so I can tell the Missus I told you so.)

Woke up to snow this morning. Put chains on and after finding that the skifields were shut, went looking for more snow. Ended up in Macetown, lots and lots of fune, and we broke the first tracks too.

had to work this morning, then decided to get a chop of what little hair I have.
have just walked in the door from the All Blacks game.
went there expecting to be cold and wet, but came home warm and dry thanks to my "suzuki xtreme, PVM X-Brand moment jacket" courtesy of crusherdealer.com (cheers flash)
awesome game, go the ABs
plan to sneak out to aotea tomorrow to watch some more idiots cruising the mud bogs and slippery hills
half time at the rugby and they announced the rimutaka hill road was closed due to snow, bummer if you'd driven over for the game

got the motor, auto and transfercase outta my truck ready to make for the other motor, manual and possibly dual transfer cases
Re: 5th-6th july
Worked Saturday, and slept most of Sunday morning, but got the head on the new motor re-torqued, tappets re-adjusted, replaced a couple of bulbs and it should get the warrant now.
Got yet another laugh at the AA's incompetence, the truck ended up going there for a WOF because the workshop that had it booked was too busy. They decided that (apart from the two blown bulbs) it failed because the steering box was flexing on it's mounting. I've just fitted the damn thing and I know damn well that it's tight and there's no damage or cracking around it, so I compared it with two other escudos. Both have exactly the same miniscule movement under load. The only difference is that the truck they were testing has no air-con condenser canister sitting above it, so its easier to see.
Of course they never commented on the 30" tyres (more than 5% larger) or the fact that they stick outside the guards by about an inch as I have not yet got the flares fitted.
That's why I never voluntarily take anything to them if I can at all help it!

i think the AA goes out of its way to hire the most retarded wof inspecters... ive heard of soo many completely b$%&hit reasons to fail a car come out of there...
including failing my old levin for "aftermarket, not to nz standard rear taillight's"... ok, they wernt the original ones, but they were factory levin taillights, just out of a higher spec'd model, and had all the correct numbers on the lenses...
i ended up getting the parts guy at toyota to ring them and give them a blast....
or a mates car failing cos it only had one rear license plate light... they said it should have two... when it only had one from factory...

i certainly wont be taking the patrol there for a wof check....
Re: 5th-6th july
Well it was BoP club champs (round 3) today & we had a blast.
The weather was beautiful, if a bit cold!!!! They obviously had had some hail last night which was stilll around for most of the day (in the shaded spots anyway)
A few guys came over the hill from the South Waikato club - they arrived late as the Kaimais had been closed due to ice(unheard of).
A great day was had by all & I think we did 13 hazards & 2 speed sections - one of which was nice & long with some very deep rutty sections - some good air was had by some - I managed to have a small altercation with a tree - did no damage but gave everyone a bit of a laugh!

Re: 5th-6th july
Had a very busy weekend, fitting rear disc conversion kit to zuki, also fitted powersteering
changed carb to a Daihatsu charade as this helps with most of the standard carb problems.
that fitted on with only slight mods.
now will be fitting new radiator that has been made, all in all a good lot of progress

Te Urewera cattle are like hindu cows
head up into the Raukokere River (Nth of Te Kaha) for some real wild cattle beast action
Mind you, a back steak is a back steak
On the truck, I made a skid plate/protector for my salisbury diff, made up a steering protector frame (yet to be finshed with a plate), and made a bracket for the hi-lift so is tied down but easy to get at. Good weekend to be indoors playing with hot steel...

Re: 5th-6th july
Went down to minganui / Whirinaki Spent Thursday in the rain track clearing, opened up one track that was only Quad bike width to a highway and up an old hunting track that goes for miles into the thick of it. dam bush lawyer everywhere pain in the arse to clear but well worth it. Didn't have my cruiser ready so took the wifes RAV4 for a blat, suprised the crap out of me, went bloody well for a low slung thing on road tyres. went for a look for dear on Friday with no joy, Saturday it started to snow and after two nights in a tent freezing my balls off decided to get soft and go home. at least one track mostly done, when finished the track in went down the exit track to find one huge mother of a tree down, so will have to go back with someone with one of those huge chainsaws.

If you follow me in the bush you must be mad cause I'm plain CRAZY !!!

cleaned out the back of the landrover, stacked the numerous psares that came with it on the shelves that I built, foudn I now have a w hole lot of stuff I possibly dont need. then started to strip the landrover, got one door off, tried the other one, Im not sure that in the 30 years it has been off, broke 2 screw drivers trying get it off ( doh !!) and pulled the bonnet off as well. the rest of the strip is next weekends job - once I get the gas heater up and running for the garage.

Re: 5th-6th july
Escorted the armed offenders squad about 17kms up the Orongo river about 1am Sunday morning to capture some suspisious behaveing joker hideing out in the middle of the bush in the rain that they beleived to be the guy on arms charges that escaped custody and broke out of Lower Hutt court on Thursday. I had a pretty good idea of where he was from the description their informant that reported it had provided them and ended up getting them to within about 50m of him and they sneaked in by foot with all their guns and night vision suff and their dog and all the rest of their shit.... Fark all hell breaks loose when those guys get to the business end of their job.
Turned out he was the wrong guy but they were looking for this joker on other charges anyway and took him away. There was a wee embarressing moment when they realised they didnt have a key for their steel handcuffs (they said they always use plastic ones) so they could shift his hands around to the front for transporting but I just happened to have a pair of bolt cutters and got to cut the suckers off him while they all stood there with their guns trained on him.
There was a couple of minor sinkings and salvages with the river still being up but that was all sorted easily enough.
Oh yeah and there was no sugestion of these jokers even considering popping shots off at the stag we chased 400m down the 4wd track coz everyone knows its illegal to shoot from a moving vehicle
