Creepy Crawlers
Creepy Crawlers
Anybody running a set of 35" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers? Any good points/bad points? Will be running them on a 70 series Cruiser SWB with 3F petrol and spring over conversion. How do they go on road and how long do they last?
;-p
few of the guys on here are running them, a couple of the guys up here have them on safari's and are finding them pretty good so far, only fairly new so cant say what sort of kms you will get out of them.
im sure pete who is doin big miles on his right now can comment further...
how are the creepys holding up pete
better than your fan i hope

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
I cant comment on how long they will last, but they are not too flash onroad (most crossplys arent though).
Noticed there is someone selling a set on trademe

One of the local trials guys runs em.... he pulls the valves, runs them with no pressure, this is on a cruiser and he loves them

Aah yea, they are really stiff. My LR does that too (still look inflated with no valve). I wonder if I can get someone to make some of them hummer beadlock things that the yanks have, because external ones only lock one side, and those pneumatic ones apparently still let crap in the bead.
My mates run a set of 35 and 37 respectively. Real good in mud and climbing loose rocky shit. Not too bad in rivers. I ran a set for twoo weeks to see how they went. I find them shit for rockhopping as the side walls are too strong. Saying that a mate drove from central otago to chch with a puncture he didn't know he had as the sidewall keep the tyre in shape.

How far did you air them down. They dont really start to bag until 10psi. They are best at around 5psi on my dads patrol.
So far they are going great
Pretty good road manners (better that ET's), and they a wearing well.
I like the hard side walls, at 15 PSI i can keep my ground clearence and have a good soft tyre
Seem like a good all-rounder so far. I'll let you know how much tread is left when i get back to Hamilton

I ran 35 creepies for 2 yrs on a light supra surf, they were really good but did't bag at all, on a trip down the conway I was running 3 tyres at 4psi and one at remove the valve let all the air out then out the valve back in
no difference
needed a change and 35inch mtr's were 40mm bigger in diameter and so far have been better for the needs of a light repowered surf.
From my experience I would summise if you have a heavier truck go the creepies as they have a heavy crossply sidewall which works well.
If you have a light or repowered light rig go for a radial which will bag better for you and gain traction when needed.
On a side note the mtr's have better on road manners than the creepies but who cares about on road manners

Re: Creepy Crawlers
pretty sure 35's are the smallest, what sort of 4wheelin do you do?
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!
Re: Creepy Crawlers
yea creepys dont come smaller than 35. however mudzillas go smaller but wear faster.

Re: Creepy Crawlers
most of my 4 wheelin is mud and have 32x11.5x15 wrangler at the moment but nearly worn altho been good tyres but i want a good knobbly tyre to make my lux look tough too and want something like mudzillas or crawlers (not worried about how fast they wear either) just look mean and good in mud

Re: Creepy Crawlers
yeah they look cool and reasonably priced, also seen on trade me mickey thompson baja claws for $1300 but what are they like 31x11.5x15 so would suit my truck good because have 10inch rims and standard height body so they wont rub and nice height tyre so wont drain to much power from my 2.8 turbo

Re: Creepy Crawlers
i cant really comment on how they are on road cause its not the best thing to cruise around town in, but the 37x14.5 are relly heavy
