axle manufactoring..?

Post by Big »

as title says..who,what,where If I wanted to,get some axles made..(not nessassarly out of chrome moly but as strong as the original)?i got an idea and If i can get some axles made the same specs as landcruiser but 150mm longer(each side)..so I can use the existing brakes, bearings etc etc and install just a spacer in the housing I would then have a more stable plateform for possible SOA..
seeing s the Mighty 70 is not very stable at height..ie SOA..I'm thinking of doing a SOA IF i can get more width..then I can run some 35's bit of panel work for flares and it should be sweet..

You dont need anywhere near SOA for 35's. cutting the guards will have them fitting easy. I had a set of 35" creepys sitting on a 70 series with just a 50mm bodylift with no rubbing. -25 offset on the wheels.

Widening it 300mm is quite a bit, would look cool and is a good mod

Brian does a good job, the other option is 60 series fronts have different length axles (diff head is different location) if you mix n match you'll gain extra trac width, on the rear go over too IFS hilux axles they are a bit longer and will slot into your diff head
Your gona want a good jig if your doing this tho axles warp very easily :(

yea thats why I was wanting to get them made pro styles..lol but as for 60 series axles..for 75 odd mm it's just not worth the hassle..I firgure that if I'm gonna do it then just get new ones made to the right length required and then just lengthen the casings..cheers for the info all..
