Were 1/2 of Aucklands real 4x4s playing in there today?
I understand there were three club runs plus a few individuals checking the place out now it is open (aka me and a mate in Zuks).

Are you referring to the track that drops down, goes to the right and then through a sandy cutting?
If you are then it is south of Lookout Rd, near the 114m elevation on the maps.

I saw some trucks coming back thru helenville. I was very jealous (couldnt get out) but was in there 2 weeks previous. I am an absolute novice with a standard bighorn but what a blast!! Prob have another go in a week or 2.

Very interested in this but nervous also as I am very much a newbie with a stock standard Bighorn '92 including road tyres. (only mods so far: New rear springs and manual hubs)

I will keep an eye out for the price tho.

was there on the weekend, $55 dollars for the day plus a $20 deposit which you get back when you sign out.

It was bloody wet on the weekend but I would seriously doubt you would get around on road tyres without it being a lot dryer. I only made it about a quarter of the way around before I broke down again (at least I didnt catch on fire this time), the guy running the place Roger is a bloody good sort and towed me out, he also let me leave my truck there overnight and came and opened up especially for me on sunday to get it out. So thanks Roger, he sounds like he has some good plans for the place and there is definately some fun to be had there. Truck going well I will be up there on the 9th with a couple of mates as well.

Im not to familiar with woodhill, only been there once with my bro for a day on the mountain bike tracks, is it all sand or is the jeep track purpose built for 4x4s with lots a mud as well???
Pick up my new toy next weekend, a 60 surf, so definately be out and about in a couple weeks.

its purpose built, but still sand based although theres heaps of mud to keep everyone happy, theres a few good bog holes and some pretty hard tracks around that you need a pretty capable truck to get through, but theres usually a bypass on the hard parts if you cant make it. definately worth a look and easily worth the 55 dollars to get in, if your keen for a trip when you get your truck i'm in, just pm me, ive got a 60s surf aswell
