Unfortunately it didn't rub off quick enough cause that 40 in the background is no longer at the shop

Hi, nice job, keen myself to ditch the mitsi and do smoething like that.
What was involved in getting it back to road standard with the new body, did it need a new certification? and what did you do about vinz ID numbers ect?
The flex looks great, does it have shocks and bump stops in place??

Does lifting the front flex the same? looks like the front (with the engine weight) is doing more work it will usualy be the way just wondering about the balance of flex front and rear. Bloody good effort on the body swap and pace the work was done, with that flex do you think it might have a lot of body roll or do the shocks stiffen the ride some when onroad.

Keep up the good work flex at the front like that proves crossover is the way to go.

we fixed the engine and chop sold the conversion.
The story of how he stuffed it is far more interesting though.

steve, i didn't know there was any question in regards to crossover steering, the road manners are worth it to start with.

Chopper, other than moving the body mount was there anything else major to do to fit the 130 body onto the 60 chassis?
A four door body would be a lot easier than the 2 door I have. I may have access to a newer body soon, so could you give us a few pointers of what to look out for when doing the swap?

all I had to do is shift the two body mounts this was done by cutting them off then sitting the body on the chassie and then boulting the mounts in and welding then to the chassie. let me know when you are going to do it and we will come up to nelson and give you a few pointers

well managed to take firday off work this week because of the rain so managed to put the new fly wheel and clutch onto the 2jz. we also managed to get it all boulted together and get the motor and box in the hole in one go thanks to cool tool number 6 . we spent some time shaging arround thinking about the engine mounts and how to make the up which we mucked arround for a coupple of hours got it looking good then found the fork lift hav lost some pressure and the motor had droped      . so I returned today and got it all set up and made some new mounts and got a few little jobs out of the way . here go some pics

Engine mounts look really clean, as it is for rock crawling do you intend to add some limit straps to the engine mounts for "if" it gets upside down? Are you still thinking LPG?

Keep up the good work and train up the apprentice well.

Im going to sound like a knob for asking, but can someone please further explain limit straps on the engine mounts...
If it's bolted in place both ends of the mounts, how can it fall out???.....

Engine mounts are bolted each end but the rubber mounts in the middle are good when gravity pushes down (in them compression rubber for shock absorbing effect). Upside down you stretch the rubber and it will rip.

Chopper regularly drives extreme angles and savage jaring that will cause these rubber mounts to rip and tear.

Limit straps on your engine mounts because of the extreme torque generated by low gearing, ie dual transfer cases and low gearing in the back case. If you jam a wheel and try and drive out the torque transfers through the drive train and will rip your engine mounts in no time. Thats why we build engine mounts like this

'85 Hilux crawler, 3rz, duals, 4.7's, 4.88's, ARB's, 30 spline Longfields, 6 stud SNR4x4 Histeer, Airshocks up front, coiled rear, 40" Iroks.

Ohhhhhhhhhh. I'd like some of those for my vitara. Save worrying about the rubber giving up (I have one now that seems a little too wobbly - although it may be fine I just dont like it).

How does that mount style work with preventing vibs through the body (not that I am worried about that too much).

Heath.

You feel the vibrations more than a stock mount :D

You think you could make something like that for a vitara? (PM me a price if you are interested). Vibes arent really a problem (are they?), I'd rather have piece of mind and know everything will stay where its supposed to be.

Sorry for the thread jack, I'll start another thread. Anyone running an after market set of mounts in a vitara?
