Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
Well if a certain person had pulled his head in, and shown even just a little respect and courtesy, then people wouldn't get upset at being personally insulted and ridiculed!
And if same person showed a little consideration for the views and capabilities of others, instead of continually trying to put down this trip, and those involved, then we wouldn't be having this problem now would we????
He started off very friendly and polite on page 4;
The digger's been through the road very recently so there are some things you should know. The repair work has left the track very soft and there are no ruts formed at this stage in many sections. This means extreme care needs to be taken to avoid a long drop into the river in places. There are also reports of a quite major slip with more poised to fall. We have some guys going through for a look this weekend but at this stage, its no shiny trip. cheers.
Flash2004
To this on page 13;
And I obviously did get the best of you because you seem so annoyed about it. As for "tread Lightly" the conservation movement figured out a long time ago that we paid it lip service at best and the beneficial effect of it has long gone. Don't expect me or anyone else to take that seriously.
What sort of attitude is that of a so called "President" of a 4 wheel drive club???? Only by 4 wheelers practicing the Tread Lightly Policy, will things get better, not by someone who "Doesn't take it seriously"!!!! Well good on you Mr President, you are a certainly someone to look up to.....................YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!

Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
Strange isnt it Kim that its not the clubs (even tho you have by your own admissions) that come up with the Dates for the closure, its WRAG. President of WRAG was asked before trip was arranged and he state to me 1st August till Labour weekend. Otherwise it would have been run at the end of June. Now run along this trip is going ahead, get over it and move on. End of Subject NEXT

Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
and there you have it
its taken 16 pages for someone to finally mention what the problem is
a slight miscommunication between local individuals on the exact dates for the road closure
all of this dribble and slanging could have been avoided if a certain person had mentioned this in his first post.
now I believe its time to mention that all of this animosity between taranaki 4wders needs to end right here and right now
I'm sure that there is a lot of behind the scenes politics involved that none of us really know about and there is definately history behind all of this.
lets forget it ever happened.
the trip will happen and in the future we are now all aware of road closures etc etc etc
I hope all of the participants enjoy themselves and as I'm sure they will, respect the environment.
Cheers

Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
I've just read through pages and pages of crap after just 3 days of not checking this thread. We seem to be falling back into our old ways again people... ways that tend to end up with the site being taken offline until people get their shite together.
But I have to say that in this case there is a root to the evil. Flash2004 made his point (at the beginning of the thread), this was taken into consideration and it was deemed that the trip was still going ahead (pending weather conditions and the status of the road). Flash2004 is not allowed to post in this thread any more as he has now lapsed into purely a negative personal attack mode. If he continues with his attacks he will be banned altogether.
From here on in only posts related to the trip planning will be tolerated. Anything else will be removed.

Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
Good call Mark, but it is a shame when it has to come to that. However, we are all looking forward to this trip. Will text/ring you tomorrow Dave when we are leaving my place. Taz01 is coming now too, in his "new" truck, one I might add, that has seen the worst Costa Plenty has to offer!!!
And I have to go into town this afternoon and pick up mine from the Auto electricians and $435.00 & 2 rebuilt alternators, later, then get home and pull the radiator again and try and get the dried mud water blasted out of it (still over heating from the last Costa Plenty boghole play!!!).
Cheers Guys

Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
Just rang the sparky, and having trouble getting a regulator, as it's an after market alternator.
He is hopeing to get one overnight so my truck will be ready by lunch time, fingers crossed.
If the worst comes to the worst, I guess I will have no other option but to kick along in the trusty Hilux, of which I have just spent all day re-kitting the front calipers and getting the brakes sorted in case. Just gotta chuck a recovery hook on the back end now in case, which I will do shortly!!

Everything is organised Taz. I have full directions to get us to Nick's, including contact numbers. I also have Dave's contact number to call him when we leave my place. Reese has full details how to get to my place, but will PM them to you also so you can print them off, although it's quite simple.
I will phone you shortly.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get another truck and can join us next time
Re: Whanga Rd 26th July
Yeah, it is, but I have to rationalise my toy's/hobbies, and as I am in the bike industry, I can't sell that.....so it is the truck, and with Auntie Helens increase in road users, plus rising fuel costs one of my fossil fueled toy's had to go. A bummer really, as it is a great truck, I have spent a lot of time and money building it, and setting it up, that, and I got to see some cool sights, and meet some great people......I am gunna miss that.....but, well, there ya have it, it is an extremely reluctant sale.
I doubt I will get another truck.........the cost alone rules that out, and this sale really is breaking my heart, yup, I am not too macho to admit it either. It is like loosing my left nut.
