The guy on Trade Me

Post by apex »

only has the independant front end CVs, not the solid axle type. Apparently they do fit but aren't as strong. I'm also after a CV, they are as rare as R/horse shit at the mo. I've contacted a place in the states that makes H/duty after market ones but I hate to think of the cost. I'll keep you posted. If you do score some I'd be keen too!!

BnT in the Hutt claim to have 2 in stock. I've ordered one but I'll be suprised if its the correct one. Should have it tomorrow pm so I'll let you know. I'm thinking of mounting up Hilux swivel housings onto my Suzi diff housings to overcome this in the future.

Why not put a Hilux axle under it? For $400 you will get a complete one... probably with diff head. Theres some engineering involved for sure, but once you start running bigger donuts then surely this problem will just get worse and worse... and since 31"s are big for a zuk, but bog standard for a hilux surely the 'lux axle will solve all your problems... Or am I oversimplifying it? I do that sometimes... :D I have a big grinder and a welder so nothing seems that hard any more...

New aftermarket CVs for Hilux axles are around $80 and common as doggy doo, $200 per side seems painful for a smaller axle. I don't think I could bring myself to pay that.

Wasn't someone on here selling a complete 'zuk a while back for $400?

no joy from BnT they sent down the independant front end Cv. Collins Motors can do a rebuild for $275 plus gst (ouch!). So the hilux adaption may be the easy solution in the long term.BuggerBuggerBugger is all I can say.

Just a thought - give these guys a go... re-co'd CVs are quite cheap thru them, and they have some whizzy machine for fixing them up. No real experience with them other than buying a subaru one a while back but its gotta be worth a try:

Hey krawler. I finally scored an old 413 and scavenged the CVs. Now to sell the rest! The guys from Suzuki said they are available ex japan for a mere $800!. When I kill these ones I think I'll have to go down the Hilux track also. I think your mates buggy may struggle to spin the 34's unless he has a rockcrawler transfer case. My lj50 handles 33's with a 1300 twin cam suzuki ok, but with the RC transfer. If he blows the transfer or trans check out my auction on trade me #48526716.

i forgot to mention 730a tranny that will not blow, and his 4age is running gt25 turbo  thats getting over 200hp at the rear wheels  so i think he wont have any probs :P ,also using the gze g/box that have been proven on light hp applications.

anyway apex good luck mate.
