26th/27th

Post by xj »

Headed up to Karakariki on saturday for a little play as a guest of the Waikato Club. Had a bit of fun, managed to pop a tyre off its bead (have never run tubes, and its the first tyre ive popped off..... tuesday will change that, courtesy of Speedy Lube and Tyre) Pulled out just after lunch as prior engagements were calling. Only just had the chance to scratch the surface of one track.
Cheers to the Waikato guys for their hospitality.

Today did the ritualistic clean. Got as much crap out from my spare as possible to make it easier for the tyre guys to reseat it. Re-painted my rock sliders and front bar.

Make sure they fit heavy duty tubes coz the standard ones wear through real easy with the slightest abrasive crap that gets inside your beads

Oh well, no point in being a dead hero!

Was pretty slippery in spots where we went on Saturday too.... to the point that in the middle of the track, on the hard slippery clay, there was green moss growing. The lockers got to get used a time or two, and happy to report they worked well.

Finished off the 3-inch body-lift on No.2 'zuk, and got the outlaw snorkel fitted.

With no template it was a long, slow process with a die-grinder getting the guard cut in somewhere near the right place, but really pleased with the result.

Still going to have to lift a couple of inches in the suspension, as well as cut the guards back a little bit to get 31's on her. Blowed if I know how I'm ever going to fit the 32's I have on the wish-list!

At least it's capable of some water-work now, which is just as well considering the weather lately.
'89 3-Dr scud. 2" body lift, 2" suspension, Snorkel, 31x10.5's, Evil-daughter chose the paint-job.
