My samurai had a 2ct toyota diesel engine , 2.0 turbo out of a lite ace van . It was bolted to a t50 box , but you could look for an auto one I guess . Gearing was a bit of an issue , but was quick off the mark

Even the 1c ( 1800 version ) would be good and teh 3c (2200cc) would be over the top but fun .
