I dont know about Bill but Paul has quickly detachable ones and they were disconnected and Paul also has special coils which are half as long again giving him good articulation and a soft ride and thats why he was going places.

I dont have any photo's but Paul may be able to take one.

The system is very simple and takes about 2mins to attach or detach.

Basically a pins drops down both sides attached to the chassis and they have hole in them for a spring clip which goes through a block on the sway bar with a hole in it.

Sorry been away this weekend, yes I have a front sway bar with quick disconnects and it works well, my coils have 12 turns in them so it articulates well but rides like an water bed with out baffels on the road, the sway bar really helps, I will put some pics on on the next day or so
Trust me, I know what I am doing

So going back to the Nissan fail. I want to see if i have this right, A std 3b (with about 70bhp) drove up a fairly steep exit, waited for a considerably more powerful nissan to fail not once, but twice before it had mechanical issues, when the nissan was then pulled back wards by yet another Cruiser, and then the 3b powered toyota ( of similar dimensions to the swb patrol) backed down the steepish exit, jump started the stricken Nissan, and then drove straight back up again with no problems at all.

Isn't that interesting??

You are wrong in several parts. The Nissan never had any mechanical issues, just dead batteries and alternator which caused a winch failure and starting problems when stalled. It failed the hill once as I still had the rear locker in from the previous part of the track, failed to steer, due to front and rear diffs locked hit the bank and stalled. The toyota behind me was supposed to pull start me backwards but drove off with vehicle connected and me not in it. Jase then kindly and very expertly drove down the hill to jump start me. Jase then drove back up and I followed driving the rest of that part of the track no problems. This is why I gave Jase best driving as it was very farking dangerous and I was shitting myself for him. It took ten hours because of having to get a vehicle through that had electrical ssues. Forgive me for my ignorance, but when in a past thread it was discussed what was true 4wdrning, in my opinion this is part of it. Yes it gets tiring, and some people get shitty, but we all get through and we all get home. That is always my primary aim out bush. At least you bastards have someone to hang shit on for a while, if it was reversed all you kiwi blokes would be running home to mummy saying "he's picking on me", Oh and go DINGO DEANS!

I think you should edit this to "toyota blokes"
Some great looking tracks, and driving going on there by the look of it

And I agree, go Dingo Deans

I have to say Al, those bloody Toyota owners have gone down a rung or two on my ladder after all the bitching they have done on and after that trip. One little alternator failure and they jump on you like a pack of Hyenas. You know that it's only because an alternator failure is a big thing in the Nissan world. They forget about the broken Toyota hubs, driveshafts and wheel bearings (critical drivetrain stuff) that broke on the trip and focus on that.

Hi Al
I want to apologize if I have upset you over this bit of video. I thought it looked quite funny with the nissan running back by it self.
I think you organized a bloody good trip and it was enjoyed by everyone including me.
As far as the time factor is involved it wasn't only you that caused the delays and your alternator problem could have happened to me or anyone else and I wasn't bothered at all.

When we reached the grey 2 hrs before you others, I took off because Janet had the flu and we didn't want to freshen it up and that is why Paul stayed to make sure another truck got across the river.

Please dont think this was a personal attack and accept my apologies.

I have removed most of my clips incase others take offense as well.

Cheers Richard

Geez Al I didn't think you would be so senstive
Any way I think that you will find that the part that failed on you (alternator) is not a nissan part. And is more than likely a common make on lots of jap trucks. What was the final issue with it?
I couldn't agree with you more about not leaving rigs behind as it happens, and we never have. And trust me, we have had some major breakdowns and breakages over the years, but like you say, you deal with it.
Still looking forward to getting around to one of your trips one day (if I ever get a chance to get my pos built), if you'll allow a truck I laughingly call a toyota (that has nissan bushes, RR springs, crusier shocks, custom axles, holden engine and trans etc. :P )

I think some people are just a little harsh :( ..guys this is what 4wdrn is all about..testing your trucks, fine tuning and setting it up to the best of your knowledge and if a component fails...it just fails..you all look after your trucks with a type of finess that makes it what it is(we are a very passionate breed)...hands on and if it takes 10 hours it takes 10 hours,to repair or not..(don't moan about, lend a hand, think about where you are when it does and take a step backwards and admire the scenery)..if this shyt happens, it happens in the most Impromptu moment and thats why it does to us cause we can deal with it(City slickers don't deal too well with this sort of shyt-thats why they live there)...Unless you carry a parts franchise then you can only carry "what ya think might break"and the rest is just luck and preventative maintenance)..I wish I could have come but a few factors meant for me I could not..and I surely would have stayed to make sure everyone was accounted for(Never leave a man behind no matter how long it takes  )..sounds like it was a trip of a life time(Hope I can come next year)Best of luck Al ,it'll work out.
Feel free to spam me,it doesn't mean shyt if you do..I take my hat off to Al for organising an awesome trip...even if I have to watch it through Youtube..etc etc..

Like Holden drivers give Ford drivers shit, so shall Toyota drivers give Nissan drivers shit  Sorry folks but thats just the way it is. :) :) :) :) :) :)
As long as its all said in fun, I enjoy the Toy vs Nissan thing. Its like having a favorite team and a bit of ribbing is all part of the game.

I recon It was a great weekend, made all the better by the "piss take" that lasted the whole trip, there was never any blame because there was nothing to blame. I held the trip up for a while with a Battery clamp bolt that proved to be a weak link and with the load on the battery while winching with a faulty bolt, caused the battery post to melt, this left me with a winch under full load and not being able to winch in or out  . The troops soon came to the rescue and the team stayed with me till we had the TOYOTA out to the road. Thanks to Richard and Paul all the members on the trip had a good time and If like me learnt heaps. Richard you don't have to worry about getting away, at no time was anybody left with out radio contact being made with in the group to make sure we where all ok,and we where OK. Any way we didn't want to get back to the Pub to soon, we where having to much fun taking the PISS out of each other.

NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN,

FITZY.

PS, Hey Rude, who won the RUGBY.

Geez Al I didn't think you would be so senstive

Consider it the straw that broke the camels back, not sensitive. Had a bad day at work yesterday. Have heard stories about the trip come to me about people on the trip not happy about things but don't have the balls to say it to my face. It was never a club trip. Got pissed of with the blantant bullshit in this thread. Keep posting the vids Richard, I am not offended just a little farked off with it all and quite frankly over it all as well. Anyone ever considered why those that helped keep this site going in its early days and helped build it why they never post anymore. In future I will be organising trips by phone only, too much bullshit for me.

Well all in all, I'd do it again... and next time it might be me that it takes us hours to recover... if I'd broken my hub in the chasm It would have taken longer to get me out, in fact we probably would have had to leave it there.
