Skids gone mad

Post by skid »

I thought I had better post this in the appropriate place for a change.

Had to work this morning and got home and decided I needed a head clearing session, so I hopped in the work ute and just drove, until I ended up at Makara Beach on Wellingtons wild west coast.

from there I decided to walk up the razorback track to the gun emplacements at the top of the hill.

its bloody hard yakka walking up a narrow ridgeline with 100m cliffs on your right, thank god the wind was pushing me inland, although its hard work walking with your body at a 45 degree lean.

anyway it didn't take long and heres some pics.....................

Image

for the welly boys, heres a pic of Terawhiti Station, if you squint you can make out the highways running all over the farm........

Image

and for all you southern folk, heres a shot of your island, but you may have to squint to see it ...................

damn near killed myself coming back down as I got even more keen and decided to run down the hill which is insane with the wind blowing at what seemed like over 100kph and every time you jump over something you land about 2 metres inland coz the wind pushes you off course, bloody landed on the fence a couple of times.

just waiting to hear if a mate has me a free ticket to the ABs tonight (fingers crossed)

now I have to wash the bloody work ute tomorrow as its covered in sea spray.

especially at the moment as the road works slowed me down to a crawl in the falcon ute as I squeezed between the road cones and the wall or the cones and the drop into the creek, very tight thru there now.

didn't realise you were that close to the roaring sea. I'd given up looking by the time I got to the cafe and when I left it was shut so I couldn't get a drink otherwise i would of seen the big red truk when I would of come out of the cafe.

Oh well next time I will park on ya front lawn before I go walkies, give ya enuf time to chill the beer for me ( just put it on the front doorstep, it should get cold enuf there)

what scares me skid, is what you were doing under the blankie if it was "Exhilerating" surely a mis placed word here or there or were you on the "firemans" couch

i went to ruapehu, left home at 430am, got to the turoa feild at bout 830, boarding by 9am. was aewsome.. no wind, very little ice, not huge lines... at 1030ish while on the chair lift the wind picked up a bit, then as i got off the lift all hell broke loose! in the space of 10 mins it went from a small breeze to all out gale! then we were told they were closing the mtn so headed down the hill. got to the van and left. then when i get home i find out they closed the rd down and there waas 300 people stuck up there! glad we went when we did! 8hrs driving for 2hrs boarding... cant wait for this coming sun! do it all over again!
