Well said Pete.

Out of curiosity, since you can fold the wind shield down, why didn't you just go for a decent hand held spotlight? If your hunting in bad weather you still have to get out and shoot anyway so having the windscreen down while looking around at low speed wouldn't be to bad? Lookin good otherwise.

And I wonder what they were smoking putting the spare tyre on the side. Cheers for the photo.

thanks Pete.

I can wank on about my truck sometimes (all the time). So i can take abit of flak. And when it comes from skid? Him and I get on real good so i know here's just having me on.

It's true. I do have a bit of coin, (not for long at the rate I'm spending it) thanks to my late folks. Though they would turn in their graves if they knew how i was spending it. They came to NZ with just their shirts on their backs. They built up a successful company that's still going now after 27yrs. But while my brother and sister worked there not long after finishing school, I was the bad boy and didn't want anything to do with working for the folks company. My twin brother and I couldn't work together anyway... I've been successful in my own trade. Brought up a family, held down a morgage for 25yrs all on my own. Now I'm going to live a little and try and put money aside for my family as my folks did.

Sorry to tell a life story here. but i want you all to know. I appreciate the value of money and money that wasn't mine. I'm trying to do the right thing.
But I love my FJ40 to bits. It's hard not to put mods on it. My partner freaks at the things I do to it. Not to mention my Holden.

I've used a hand held spot light with the screen down Taz. That works well. I'll still use the hand held even with all the lights on. I guess i want the best of both worlds on and off the road. The main spots are good for locating bunnies but they soon run away from a parked up truck. So that's when I use a hand held.

Yeah that spare wheel mounted on the side of my brothers 40 was like that when he brought it. Was a bit of a laugh going through tracks and taking out branches with it.
His 40 is pretty straight though. Never been rolled. :D

You crack me up skid.

Now being me, I'd lend you the money son.

But if it was my Dad? His answer would be, "you blew it up, you pay for it. that's the only way you'll learn son."
And in response to a going out on a date? He'd say, "the only way you'll impress her is by using your OWN money son."

Lastly. Toys? "you want a 40 son? You save for have of it and if you keep out of trouble? I'll pay the other half".

Dad was good like that. :D

Light force are good chopper. The hand held spots are light force. They also mount on the gun as they are light weight plastic. But as far as the ones mounted solidly on the truck go? I did a bit of research before buying IPF spots. And I wanted hardy steel made water proof job. Light force are good, but not hardy enough to take a beating in the bush on the front of the truck. But hey, that's just my opinion.

so the IPF spots are full metal back are they.cause I've seen the light force ones and Rick (4wdacc) said they can with stand a shot from a shot gun and not break

Yeah you're right. They say they can with stand a hard treatment. I know I've dropped the hand held spots enough times and thrown them in the back of the truck heaps. They get a hard life from me for sure and keep going.
I guess I've got a old school head. I like the steel jobs. And the IPF beam is just as good if not a fraction better then the Light force.
For a spot to be mounted on the gun, I wouldn't use anything else other than Light force.

Not as adjustable as the new Narva lights i brought Jezza. I'd say not. The light force ones you can adjust the beam from narrow to wide by twisting the lamp. But the IPF ones are tuned to one beam but of course you can point them where ever you want them before locking them in position. I like the beam of the IPF and how solid they are and they are totally water proof. You can totally submerse them.

Have you got some yet? :D:D Sound farkin solid. Probably a bit more of a punch from a shotgun but withstanding a sledge is nothing to laugh at.

:D

I have toyed with the idea chopper. I get used to the power pretty fast and am always thinking of more grunt.
NOS is the cheapest way. But not sure if that shortens the life of the motor faster than supercharging it. Supercharging is street legal. But NOS isn't. :(

I think I'd go for one of those Harrop valley mounted supercharge kits for the low down grunt and being street legal is a plus. it's a good subject to talk about chopper. Gets the hairs on the back of my neck going. :D

Here's some more pix of the cruiser.

There's a fire extinguisher bottle that's being mounted under the floor for my on board compressed air. Still to be finished.

Image

The bash plate for the alloy fuel tank is in place and finished.

Image

The battery box large enough to fit X2 Optima dry cell batteries is ready to be installed under the floor.

Image

Finally the bull bars have been altered to cater for the fark off spot lights!!

Image

I'm thinking of removing the 2 outside spot lights as they will get damaged sitting there. Besides. The new hardcore spots are 3 times brighter. 8)

Corey has done a farken mint job so far.
Everything off to get powder coated next week.

I'm stoked.

Looks good

Although just wondering

Are bull bars allowed to project forward?

Just something in back of brain about a rule on them not being intimidating?
