Anyone know where i could get a steel front diff housing for a vitara . I blew a hole in a alloy one on sunday so took spare one out today only to find crack in same place as first one broke so then had to raid vitara number 3 .Need to give diff a clean and hope it is not cracked as well .So will look to replace with a steel one soon.
te puke parts world have some from a grand vitara, i spoke to them today about one for myself and they want $1300. i think thats for one with your diff internals swapped into it to give the right ratio.
Its better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
Haven't priced them up, but contact 4WD accessories in CHCH for a price on the calmini anvil housing. This is a purpose built steel front housing that is set up to run two short-side axles, so you don't have to have different lengths.
List is $US630, and Nick can price pretty competitively, the only thing I'm not sure of is whether they will work without a suspension lift. I'd suggest you see if you can find anyone that's tried one here in NZ to see how good they are.
Because every parts seller knows how sought-after the steel housings are they always seem to want $1200 to $1500 just for the housing. They only came out on the V6 manual Grand Vitara and XL7 from what I can gather. That could make the Calmini unit a good option if it will fit your truck.
