rim offset

Rim offset. How/where is this measured from? . Mucking around today with old set of 15' white spokes. Got probs with clearance on the brake calipers on the back of my 80 series, Had heard of the, 5 mins with the grinder fix.... .Thought I'd price some 16' white spokes . Not sure what offset?. like to get the same offset as my 15' ones , not sure where to measure from?

Offset is measured from the midpoint of the rim-width, to the rear (mounting) face. Dead-centre is zero offset, positive offset is where the mounting face is spaced towards the outside of the rim (i.e rim sits further in towards the vehicle centreline), negative offset is when the mounting face sits inwards in the rim so that the rim itself is spaced out from the vehicle.

eg. a -15mm offset on a wheel will have each wheel sitting 15mm further out from the vehicle than a zero offset.

It depends on the width,15x8 should be negtive 24 and 15x10 negtive 44,have just done my cruiser with 15x10

It depends on the width,15x8 should be negtive 24 and 15x10 negtive 44,have just done my cruiser with 15x10

hes looking at 16s and 15s have lots of variations due to lots of brands of wheels



can I ask why you want 16s

If you have a post 1992 cruiser you should have 16 inch rims to clear the calipers. Look for approx -19 to -24 offset.

Rims hit brake caliper on rear , not by much, thought 16" would give the clearance needed. fronts ok.
