Right some stats for you guys from a couple of days ago.

Jerry has over 1000 posts in the offtopic section,

Current: post count including all forum threads as of last week sometime i think.
Updated: with offtopic posts removed.

lilpigzuk : Post Count, current:1797 Updated:1254
mercutio : Post Count, current:1624 Updated:1084

Post counts have been updated with the removal of all offtopic posts now. Offtopic does not increase you post count.

I have a list of moderators from ages ago that volunteered so will now be calling upon these people to police the forums and weed out offtopic posts in the tech side of things. If any moderator deems that a member is trying to get their post count up by posting crap in non offtopic forums they will be banned for 2 weeks to start with.

Cheers

haha, crap and i was so close to my 500th post too.... :P :P

Off topic is just that, off-topic. no one HAS to read it, but fair enough that it dosnt count towards the post counts.

ah well, maybe i better buy a 4wd in oz after all...

why not just remove the post count from the front screens? they are about as much use as the forum names underneath it....

The offtopic's there to keep the bullsh*t out of the 4x4 stuff. As the sites evolved it also provides a social network amongst its members as well as the 4x4 tech stuff and off topic is somewhere for the social side to interact without clogging up tech or trip threads with too much crap (thats the theory  ).

The site does have to stay in its 4x4 context though coz it is a 4x4 site and thats why I'm here the same as most other people, I always view the site from the most recent posts link and we dont want to be viewing 5% 4x4 topics and 95% non 4x4 bullsh*t topics everytime the page is refreshed. Theres a ballance there that needs to be acheived.

Well off topic stuff is there just because our lives and driving is just not limited to offroading. We do drive on roads and do other stuff as well. As long as it is balanced with technical content, great. Keep up the good work Mike.
