Dive tank air system
Dive tank air system
hi,
can anyone tell me what I need and where to get the stuff to make a dive tank air system. I have the tank but no regulator (what kind do I need) and does anyone have the stuff forsale? i need it to get the airshocks running in my trials truck.
Cheers

Single stage regulator set to no more than 105psi check trademe or go talk to your local dive shop

I think I mite need a touch more than 105psi if they can handle it(maybe 150psi, will have to check with previous owners). I did go and talk to the local dive shop and the woman in there was no help at all

Re: Dive tank air system
what pressure you after ?, nitrogen if you are going higher than normal pressures or preloading a shock

You will need a first stage regulator, there are two types, piston and diaphragm. Piston type output pressure can be set by changing/shortening the spring. not sure how on the diaphragm type, but ya dive shop can do it. I got a piston type of trademe for $20 but it leaks

Re: Dive tank air system
how badly does it leak? if its not too bad and can last a day then id be happy
Would be good if you could post a pic of your setup.
I also found out that my shocks run at 150psi-180psi

Re: Dive tank air system
It'd run the tank out in an hour or so
This would be suitable, bout the only one available apart from new

Re: Dive tank air system
can ya mount an air con pump on ya motor and plumb it to a holding tank mounted elsewhere
at least then you wont run out of air as might happen in a bottle, especially if its going to use a lot to air the shocks up and down
not to mention tyre pressures that you be altering during the day also

warren just brought one from a guy round the corner from his workshop at a specialist shop of some description.
may be a bit out of your price range, but go talk to warren and see where he went and then go talk to that guy and he may be able to come up with a solution or may have all the answers you are looking for
cheers

Re: Dive tank air system
Ok back on topic .......
Tu's here is my setup, although a slightly leaky one
I got the dive shop to check the low pressure side and it was already set to 160psi
You will need to turn an adapter to get your airline coupler to fit, if that's how your gonna run it. The thread for the low pressure side is 5/16 UNF and it has a groove for an o-ring to seal it. Get Howie to turn something up for ya if ya need to, its easy as, bout half an hours work. The guage is the one that came with the reg, just got rid of the flexi hose

Re: Dive tank air system
Hi Tu,
Sorry I didnt read your post properly thiought you were looking at tyre refilling, 105psi plenty for that. For shocks, only allowed 150psi. the rule states 150psi max and only inert gases can be used
Cheers

Re: Dive tank air system
Hi, I've got one of these setup basically the same as Jafa but the airline fitting is on the end of the flexible pipe - that way you just get the fitting you want crimped onto the end (mines an aro but I've been about to swap for a nitto for months). Mine's setup for airing up tires, as a stopgap until I get the aircon compressor mounted, but the todo list keeps growing. Anyway, to the point - I'm not going offroad for a few weeks by the looks of things, so if you want to borrow it for testing purposes you can have it for a few weeks. i might be able to bring it to club night, or if you don't need the bottle I can bring the reg into work at Wgtn and maybe get someone to arrange a meet. cheers,
Terry
