I'm having a starvation problem with my 4D56T Gen 2 Paj. On the way back from Tommos on Sunday it suddenly just lost power until it stalled. Crank it over a few dozen times and it fires up full noise, drive a couple of ks and repeat.
Ran it without the fuel cap, no difference. Hand primer feels dodgy and can't get it to pump fuel through the system with that.
Trying to find the fuel pump left me scratching my head. Any ideas?

Fuel Pump = Injector pump (follow the injector lines back to the pump, the injector pump draws the fuel all the way from the tank. Some vehicles do have a lift pump, but highly unlikely on a Vag)
Check fuel filter
Pressure test fuel lines with compressed air
Check to see if there is a tiny little gauze filter under the main fuel feed fitting on the injector pump, may need a clean.
If it was the pump itself it would run at all.
My money is on it being either the filter, breather( you could have had air locks in the line even after you took the cap off??), or a damaged fuel line from the tank.

it has the primer pump on the fuel filter body rather than on the injector pump so thought it may have a remote

Put a new one the last time it did this, not that long ago. I'll do it though, because if it is gunged up then I have other problems. Hopefully not bug

This was my thought given that it had some other rough bugger beating it to death on the weekend!

The petrol ones have a little gauze on the end of the fuel pickup in the tank.... Not sure if the Diesels do as they don't have the in tank pump. The pickup is easy to get at.
