Well Finally last weekend took the engineers Jimny upto the co drivers so he can start the wiring. Put my Jimny into the engineers workshop. Monday they pulled my motor Tuesdy sat the replacment motor in the hole. Today went in and cleaned up the beadlocks ready for painting redrilled the rims to 6 stud for the offset I want. Tomorrow will finish the rims and prime them and start replacing the rollcage to 32 min for the extra weight. Got to get ready for the end of September
Re: 9th - 10th
stripped front end down. modified housing to take new howie locker, reassembled and put back in place now looking at changing front panhard rod to clear locker and hyd steering ram, although it would be easier to move the ram
next is to mount new radiator and fabricate new fuel tank, then i think it is pretty much body, wiring, new injection computer and home built tranny computer, a bit of plumbing and then test drive, hopefully test drive is not onto the trailer then drive to rally site!!

Stayed at Murawai for friday at sat night. Went for a blat up Murawai beach to get to Woodhill. Was a bit wild and wintery for the most part of the morning. Had a ball in the park, certainly well worth every cent.

Went up Okuku pass with family for the nephews to have play in the snow. Quite slippery getting up there in 2wd as there was no clear wheel tracks on the way up. Got back down an onto the seal about 1 min and ran out of diesel. Finally discovered where the needle is pointing when it mean empty (no fuel light)
. Got towed the short distance to sister's home where they had some diesel. Put $144 of diesel in it today!
Edit
found a photo to match - This is up Okuku pass

Sunk the cruiser on Saturday up coal track road, ended up on an interesting angle and got towed out by a hilux. Pulled 4 trucks out of the Selwyn this avo, including 2 new landcruisers that had slid side by side trying to get past each other.b
Nothings a problem if you don't give a f#ck.

Parked 'Fred' in the garage to pull the clutch out, but found out it was only a broken cable. I only replaced it about 500kms ago so was a bit surprised, considering the clutch had been making horrible "I'm going to disintegrate in a very akward and expensive fashion" noises for a long while. Turns out the cable had slipped it's hook-stay and rubbed against the alternator pulley until the outer ws worn through. Changed that out and now just have to continue listening to the horrible noises until I get motivated to pull and replace the clutch. Oh, and the alternator has gone out in sympathy and is now making similar horrendous grinding noises to the clutch.
Then put 'Piglet" in the garage and found the water leak from one of the heater hoses. Had a fiddle and re-installed the hose and clip. Unfortunately I found and fiddled, but didn't fix. New green puddle under truck this morning. Bugger! Started to fit a voltmeter so I can get some advance warning when the alternator brushes gum up, 'cause I'm sick of finding out by having the truck die on the side of the road (No warning lights illuminate when the brushes don't make contact with the commutator). Got cold, wussed out and gave finishing it a miss. There's always next weekend to finish it.
