Runva Winches

Post by kiwipete »

Does anyone know where I can get an exploded view of the 10000lb winch for the purpose of pulling it apart, so I can waterproof it. It absorbs water like a sponge.
All the grease in the clutch end looks rather brown? and has water in it.
I don't want to go pulling it apart and not knowing how to re-assemble it.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Just pull it apart Pete and lay it out as it comes out. You could even draw yourself puictures as you go. I did exactly this when I pulled my ward apart. Went back no problems and with no diagrams. Maybe you could use the diagrams off a similar model but different brand, they are all the same internally mostly.

What I do if I am unsure how something is going to go back together I take photos as I disassemble it

This may help as well

Warn Winch thread

Yes it is a different brand but it will give you an idea of how they are put together
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

x2 you beat me to it dazza

You know what they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words, i've taken photos of stuff before as I've pulled them apart and its real useful when your unsure of which way some of the stuff came out or which way around it goes

EP grease, thick and stiff, (stop laughing) but designed to work under extreme high pressure.
Or, if the water INSISTS on getting in, waterpump grease? NOT SERIOUS!!!

I' went the opposite. Thin & sticky high temp Morey's oil stabiliser in my warn.

Free spool works like a trooper, sticks to anything, high pressure, repels water

Rate it highly.

If you have a Runva with the sliding clutch lever (up & Down) then I'm told they are a bugger to get back together.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods ;)

Bummer, that's what I have got indeed, I was hoping to find a diagram of it first to see if I could rotate the clutch 90 deg for a new winch bar im thinking of making sometime.

I used that red nulon high temp grease. Seriously repels water and sticky as chewing gum.
