give chopper01 a pm

Huh? Remember you are talking to someone that has no mechanical knowledge.....lol.........
SAS?
Longfields?

SAS = Solid axle swap, swapping in a leaf or coil sprung front end using an earlier model Hilux/Prado front end
Longfields are virtually indestructible cvs and axles

You can't SAS an airbag equiped truck Matt.
And would you let Chopper loose on anything worth more than $5k

yeah I wouldn't have thought it was allowed, but would open up a few more possibilities for some newer vehicles

i still doubt it would be allowed, i dont see how a big ass solid axle in place of a ifs set up wouldnt adversely affect the factory designed crash structure.

and you would need a big set of hairy ones to start chopping away at a 50k hilux, im bloody sure i couldnt do it.

there is a late model hilux going round chch with a solid axel. The guy had had a couple drinks and was on the way home and drove into a ditch ripping the ifs off. No insurence and the cheepest way to fix it was with a solid axel. its about an 06 i think.

Bloody near choked on my redbull when I read this Rok; with more than a little self-interest, I have today personally spoken with several L V V C's ... in brief summation, there is no significant impediment to a SAS (coils) on an airbag equipped beastie. 8) :D :D :D

How do you get on with a bodylift and airbags? Can it be certified?

I guesss a SAS would have to be done by someone with a fair bit of knowledge then..... .........preferably someone thats done it before.....

I'd be interested to see how much it would cost.compared to the lifts that have been mentioned and just fitting smaller wheels.....although that defeats my original purpose.....it might have to wait a few weeks....as I have another project on the go at the moment....lol.
