8) Trip reports coming............................... Just a teaser

The darkness of night swiftly gathered around us, silently stalking our small crew, hungrily swallowing the last remaining light and casting menacing shadows in the dimness of the mud filled headlights as I gingerly eased my now badly battered Safari over the point of no return, deep down into the Rock Garden.
14hrs of labour had bought us to this point. Fatigue was showing in everyone's faces. Determination and love of adventure fuelling the drive to carry on forwards.

Adrenalin cursed through my veins as I eased over the crest and the lights came down to bear at the same angle as the decent. My wheels were confirmed as being where they were supposed to be by a shout and a thumbs up from a helpful shadow in the trees. This was it. I was committed. My passenger announced she was going to close her eyes as her fingers engaged the passenger side dashboard grab rail in a deathly grip. I was busy wondering if there was I slim chance I could do the same……………………………...

I am the shizznit now.

I HAVE DENTS

Nah, its just that C pillar dent thats the concern, the others i have done before and fixed far to many times, actually, four times on the drivers side rear quarter panel and twice on the passengers rear quarter, the doors just pop out, and the sills are flat under the chequer plate

But that C pillar, how the hell do i do anything with that!!!!

Don't mind drivin it home with dents, but I *DO* have to drive it home... ah hell, its only about 1000km or so... as long as someone has a garage somewhere to make it roadable again and maybe a welder and a grinder then no worries

Did I heap Wopass say he had a drive I could wash the truck off on? :D

So does Environment Canterbury so theres no chance I'll be allowed to put it on a trailer and bring it home...

Maybe we could get DOC to put a firehose and the end of the track? :P

...actually, the orions at Whenuapai when I was based there used to have a really cool wash they went through after low level maritime flying... kind of like about 20 high-pressure water blasters pointing up out of the ground that it taxi'd over after landing to wash all the salt spray off... something like that would be cool...

 i have often thought about using the truck wash here at work, much the same set up,designed to blast water under and around the coal trucks before they hit the road....but im thinking i probably wouldnt want to be inside it  ....and i doubt that it would be viewed very well, the drainage and pumps may have problems with the ton of maratoto clay and mud  ... guess its still the drive way...or wash world, thats allways fun to leave there feeling sorry for the guy who has to clean the booth after i leave  hehheheh.

Yep, nothing like making wash world earn their $10 by cleaning the mountains of mud out of the wash bay after you've left.

It's quite satisfying looking at the mess you've made and for once, you don't have to clean it up yourself

so you guys are the reason wash world police their washing bays now... well, its either that or all the pics of naked chicks washing their cars at washworld that ended up on the net a while back

Hmmm... naked chicks, at washworld, washing mud off my truck...

 chance would be a fine thing

...Still, my birthday is coming up... might ask the wife... :D
