That's a good question.
I'd hope they are ok. Ricks (at 4X4 Accessories here in Chch) Jeep's bull bars are even further forward than mine and I would of thought he'd know if they were legal or not. He's the one that does my W.O.F.
But I'll point that out to him all the same.

Cheers.

Not sure skid. I missed that damn it..

But without trying to brag. Rick tells me these spots are the first set to arrive in the country. He's wiring them up. Both him and I are interested to see how they perform.

Not sure huh. Yeah I guess it takes some getting used to..

What's on the bonnet? Well the kids wanted me to stencil "Jurassic Park" on the bonnet but since I'm a M*A*S*H fan from way back I stenciled that instead.
It's on there for a bit of a laugh to go along with the cammo green colour. I also have decal bullet holes on the passenger side. It gets some funny looks. But to be honest, I don't care. It's a fun off roader and I like it looking the way it is. If others don't, build a bridge and get over it. :D

This is from the LTSA bullbar factsheet
Warrant of fitness inspectors have guidelines on bullbar designs (in their Vehicle Inspection Requirements Manual) that are based on the External Projections Rule. An inspector may refuse to issue a warrant of fitness if, in their opinion, a bullbar:

* slopes forward (unless the shape is necessary to fit closely to the vehicle's structure)
* has sharp corners or edges
* is more than 100 mm wider than the vehicle on either side
* was attached as an after-market add-on to the vehicle's chassis or body by welding
* has an unnecessarily wide gap between the bullbar and the shape of the vehicle
* is excessively strong and rigid given the purpose it was fitted for.

Just don't go anywhere else for a WOF

Thanks Jezza. I might add some body molding to make the bull bar more legal. I'll get round it, the bull bar stays :D . The roll cage is close to bending the "LTSA" rules to. But it's still has no worries getting a WOF. It's all good.
I'm not sure why I'd go to anyone else for a warrant anyway. :D

Check this bull bar out Jezza. I owned and sold this FJ40. it never had any problems passing a wof. The Vehicle Testing Station passed this bull bar every time. Go figure. It leans forward more than mine and is a shit load bigger.

But thanks for your input anyway.

I will keep it in mind. It's surprising to see just what you can get away with.

The lights should be welded to the bull bar for how much they cost. The lights are a pencil beam. Haven't seem them running yet. But I'm told they turn the night into day. They are full adjustable. So when I'm towing (which I often am) I'll beable to adjust the beam easily.

The local guy who brought it off me still stays in touch (Aaron). He's had the body touched up. Looks great. He loves it Jerry! He's the guy that got sick of getting his Patrol stuck so ditched it and went with the FJ40 and never looked back. 8)

Had the window out yesterday as the only leak I was getting was from the front wind screen. So I was picking I'd find this. Not to worry. I've already started to fix it.
Hopefully the window will go back in tomorrow.

Went to get the bull bar re power coated this week. Problem was. The first time it was done, they plastic coated it instead of powder coating it. (dumb asses) They're out of business now. Funny that. But the crowd trying to power coat it are finding it hard finding someone who will take the plastic coating off. Turns out it's a real mission to do. Fark it!

One day I'll take me truck up to Aucks and visit some old mates from the days I lived there.
Along the way I'll have to stop and meet some people from Welly off ORE. You're top of the list skid. :D
Btw, I won't be keen on a 4X4 trip as the thing has to get me from Chch to Aucks n back.

Those sideflow radiators are notorious for cracking. How have you mounted it Pete? You want to make sure you have decent rubber standoffs to absorb the movement.

I just converted my Hilux to a standard style as I had had problems with my V8 commodore radiator.

Hi Matt.
The dealer (Silvester Car Parts) who sold me the radiator(s) told me they shouldn't have to much sideways pressure on them. They should be firm not tight. And how mine is installed is tight. (which I agreed) He also suggested to clamp it from the top center down so if it was to roll ( :D ) it would stay in place. So they've replaced the last 2 for free. But the fourth one I'll have to cough up.
The fabricator I use thought the alloy used to make them was thin and the welds not great. He's not surprised I'm on my fourth one.
If I got "A1 Radiators" to make a custom built one they quoted me $800  The ones from Silvester's were half that. But it's the old story I guess. You get what you pay for.
Atleast this time the leaks are at the top of the radiator not the bottom.

Hi Pete, something to be aware of and I don't know If It applies to your vehicle Is when modifying vehicles, the front panels get cut out and or modified to fit the radiator and then because of panel alteration the radiator becomes a stressed member. I am looking foreward to meeting you and the 40 at Sheffield.

One way to fix the Radiator problem  , would be to fit a FORD one,

BUILT FORD TOUGH,
