A first I thought there was some clever camera angle work going on...
But then when the vehicle is going back down you can see that although there may be some slight angle on the camera to make it look more impressive, the fact is the trees and person are standing up very close to vertical. The is one flippin steep bit of rock. Very impressive.

Those late rangies have good traction. Clip is impressive. Look at the grass on its way down when the wheel goes past it it is sticking out on an angle not straight up. I think the camera has been used to advantage but regardless its impressive and not sure that I'd be going down it with my cruiser and its brakes!

Yeah there's some angle in the camera but it's very slight. You can tell by the way the range rover starts to slide on the downhill section that it's bloody steep!

I haven't been climbing in the states but I've been climbing on granite in the UK and you wouldn't believe the friction you can get. Still I wouldn't attempt this without a crash helmet, a roll cage and some amazing car insurance that turns a blind eye to stupidity!!

nah its bollocks.

the angle changes from when the rangie first drives onto the rock and then as it comes back off... i think there has been some very good work done with an editing program on that clip.
its certainly filmed on a steep hunk of rock, but not as steep as it makes out ot be. or the winch rope has been edited out...

and you can see at about 1.19 the rear suspension lifts out, so it must be real or bloody close to it

A bit of searching finds out this is filmed at Moegatle Lodge in South Africa. (http://www.moegatle-lodge.co.za/Fourbyfour.htm)
There are a few other vids on YouTube of a Discovery 3 doing the same hill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STt7DmJe ... re=related) and a Hilux.
The incline is quoted in a couple of articles (search Moegatle The Rock on Google) as being 45 degrees.
So yes, there is obviously a little bit of extra angle on the camera to make it look more spectacular but this is indeed one hell of a steep bit of rock.

thats the one.

theres obviously some seriously steep bits, you see it when its on its way down the rear wheels are only just skipping on the top of the dirt, and if the whole clip was real then it would be an impressive ride...

do the sports have the height adjustable suspension? lift the front at the right time, lower the back a bit... makes it look like weight transfer...

Tussock and grass don't grow vertical like trees do. I agree with the exaggerated camera angle, but it's still bloody steep.

Yes the sports have adjustable suspension, but it's all computer controlled. I don't think the computer has a "lie to the camera" mode.

When you look at it closely it does look for real. yeah not a bad run. Bit slow though.
Ahhh. My 40 would beat it up that hill NO worries.


I'd tell that kid screaming in the back ground to shut up though.
