anything could do outlaw class as long as it is safe but, will outlaw class be around next year or the year after that, and how long will it be before the south island rules comply with the north as regards chassis and body?

Why should they? If you are allowed to put a Hilux body on a 80 series chassis, or landcruiser body on hilux chassis whats different than putting a 45 on top of a Nissan chassis???

The vehicle in question on this auction, provided it had at least a 4 point cage, reg'd and cert'd it could compete in South Island big boys class.

Correct me if im wrong but what LOLYFE was saying was to compete with the (big boys) under 4x4challenge rules the body and chassis must be from the same manufactuer your reference to a Hilux on a 80 series etc is fine as all made by Toyota .but toyota on a nissan chassis would not comply in comps in the NI run under 4x4 challenge rules..

No, body must be "truck" based not "car" based. there are more technical terms in the rules :D
Again this is for 4x4 challenges NZ rules.

Yes sorry I should have been more clear. I was talking about Mainland winch challenge rules where a FJ45 body on a Nissan chassis would seem to be allowed, providing it is legal.

We are not running under 4x4 challenges rules - but rather using these ones. Mainland Winch Challenge rules

Your right regarding some of the rules as i understand them i am not allowed to put a nissan body on a toyota or vise-versa, but i am allowed to put hilux diffs under a suzuki or nissan diffs under a hilux also im allowed to re-power it with whatever motor i like,im allowed to move the rear wheels back on my SWB nissan but im not allowed to remove a section of chassis in a LWB to get the same result (MWB) even if it is certified.strange aye :? ..rant over :P :P
