Lifts and Ratios

Post by Tommo »

Just a couple of quick questions.....100mm suspension lift, does anybody have thoughts on where to obtain a reasonably priced kit...also running 35's with a PTO winch causes the vehicle to over-run the rope when winching....any thoughts on pro's and con's of changing transfer case ratios or diff ratios other than the fact that transfer case gears won't effect high ratios.....

Your thoughts will be appreciated

Sorry about that, Im a bit new to this lark...

88 SWB Nissan Safari...tends to get used for club trips and the odd challenge that we run down here in the south...day to day tyre is 32/33 BFG and 35 Simex's for the harder trips.....main worry i have with the diff ratios is changing the high range revs when driving to and from trips etc

The lift itself is relatively cheap, its the castor plates, panhard rods, rear trailing/upper arms that will cost you. If you are on a budget, why not go up to a 3" suspension lift and a small body lift? A lot less hassle.

I would change the diff ratios, especially if you haven't turboed the truck (assuming its the TD42 slug)

Already runs a turbo...it also has a 50mm body lift but it's proving very tough of body mounts....

cheers

Get in touch with Mike at 4wd upgrades in ChCh, he has lifted a few of these, and has modded the panhards etc himself to suit. Might be a cheaper option.

If you are going to change the rations i would recommend getting some low ratio tranfer box gears they are awsome they give you heaps more control for decents and just generally crawling over things.
