I heard there might be a recovery comp/demo??? event coming up.
Anyone know more,just a work mate throught there was one this weekend?

If you are in Christchurch there is :D
Basil Philps trophy is on this weekend, I believe this Saturday at the Ashley River, I will find out exact details today and post back here :wink:

The Taraura 4wd Club are holding a teams recovery challenge in mid april up in Shannon, Our team competed in it a couple of years ago amd it was good fun will be competing again this time aswell.

I can post details if this was the one you are talking about.

Or if you live in Auckland, the Norwest winch challenge is on this weekend, with demo stages at the Kumeu A&P show.

Basil Philps trophy is on Saturday 11th March,
Starts at 9am, best time to go watch probably around 10am onwards.
Directions I have are, go down Tram rd and signposted from Mt Thomas Rd :wink:

I went to the Basil philps trophy on sat,I ended up going with my work mate and competeing with the suzuki club,which was good fun but didnt get to see any of the other vehicles compete.
Pics are pretty average,but you get that sometimes
The last pic of the toyota LWB has a v8 of some sort,I guess the toyota donk wasnt up to it :D

I think I recognise that truck you are talking about... If its the one I think it is, the Toyota motor not up to it is a funny comment... 'cos the V8 in it *IS* a Toyota motor :lol:

Someone will be able to confirm it but that used to have a 2.4TD in it and he put the Lexus in it for more power... wish I could remember the guys name, but sold him a couple of Lokkas for it a few years back... hell of a nice guy.

no real action shots to speak of,no mud there either.
Pic of the suzuki on the winch stage,is quite a bit steeper than it looks,you could drive it(just)

Never got to see under the bonnet of the cruiser,it had a EX5.0 badge on the back so I guessed it was a 5 liter???

EX5 is the series badging for a 5-door prado from memory... the 3-door Bundera is an SX5...
