Hey Guys,
Not sure whether this is right section to post this in. After doing a bit of reading through the forum I am interested in the boost of my 3.2DT Terrano. I have had a good google but you guys seems to be the best source of info!
I have some questions:
- What is the standard boost level on this engine ( I would like to check this if nothing else)
- What can this safely be raised to (conservatively)
- Are there supporting mods that need to be made, I have heard that adjusting the diesel pump or something? - I am a bit confused because this engine has an airflow meter which I would think would correct for an increase in boost?
- What sort of gain can I expect?
I am curious about this mod as I wouldn't mind a bit more go, even a small increase. I dont want to go down the exhaust track etc as I would like to keep it somewhat factory.
Cheers, Kim

Re: 3.2 Terrano Boost
fit a boost gauge.
if your going to do any mods you will need at least a boost gauge and preferably an EGT gauge before playing with fuel.
you will have to look under the bonnet and see what fuel injection pump it has and if it has any airflow meter.

Re: 3.2 Terrano Boost
This may sound stupid but how do I actually tell what type of pump it is, I think the 2.7 has a rotary but not sure about the 3.2?.
Yes it has an airflow meter - I would think the airflow meter could adjust fuel to compensate for an increase in boost (to a point) such as in a petrol.I would probably not be keen to adjust boost If fuel needs to be "fiddled" manually
I will plumb in a boost gauge in the weekend to check the level at the moment if nothing else.
Cheers,
Kim

Re: 3.2 Terrano Boost
i don't know much on them. if you have a MAF it will be electronic pump, i'm not sure if they are fly by wire or just electronic controlled timing. check if it has a throttle cable going to it.
i think maf on those is more to do with emmisions rather than fueling. eruo forums have more info on those types of systems. you could do some testing like block off boost sensor and see if its gutless.
