Charity food drive.... cambridge 27 September.

Post by xj »

Hi all,

It seems that currently across a wide spectrum of society, things are getting tight. Mortgages, rates, fuel, food etc are all on the increase, (as if anyone needs reminding) some sectors are getting hit harder than others. The NZ Jeep Club prezzie got to thinking about what we, as our own little community, could do to get out and help ease some pressure.

So.....

On 27th September, members of the NZ Jeep Club are doing a little food delivery to the Salvation Army foodbank in Cambridge.

A "challenge" has been put out to some clubs around the region, and as far as I am aware, members of the Waikato 4x4 Club and the Cozzie Four wheelers are coming to the party to contribute also. (apologies if ive omitted other clubs at this stage, im just going off the info i currently have)

All we are asking is that folks pitch in and donate whatever they can afford, a little, or a lot, it doesnt matter. Non perishables are the order of the day though.

Some local businesses have also offered to put boxes out in their workplace, with fliers that we're making up, to help boost donations............

Local media have also shown interest in covering this little venture.

There is the desire that this could become an annual affair, and that something a little more structured might be able to be put together, ie: a group lunch one day, the drive, function in the evening with perhaps a farm trip or something the following day..... for the moment we're only doing the drive.

Any expressions of interest can be placed here and I'll foreward info on to the organiser.

Cheers all

Mark

Waikato Times ran a little by-line article in yesterdays paper.
While at servo i overheard two people talking about it today.
Even the IRD staff in Hamilton are getting behind us and have donation boxes put out in their offices!!!!

We're meeting in Cambridge, on Alpha street, look for all the 4x4's! ill be over there fairly earlyish at this point, but the official meet is between 1 and 3.

Food = any non-perishables..... ie: anything canned (although i understand Big Macs last years... so i dunno if they qualify!) or preseved to hades and back.

Ill give ya a bell if im going to be gong out later.
