Its better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
Re: a different way to blow up your tyres??
Do you think that would work on my diesel?

Nah it was the old Austin with twin gearboxes and dual rear wheels before he got the series 1 that was the reliable one, reverse/reverse was the lowest forward gear for big hills but it needed someone else to hold the gearlevers in place to stop it popping out of gear at the wrong time

Re: a different way to blow up your tyres??
Wouldn't your battery go flat from winding the engine over before your tire was pumped up?
What about all the petrol that would end up in your tire?

Wouldn't be a problem as the engine could still be running (just one cylinder less)

Does it concern you pumping up your tyres with an explosive gas mix?
Re: a different way to blow up your tyres??
i just spray start ya bastard into the tyre (push the tyre away from the wheel when the bead is off) and then light it with a gas torch. it works a treat

That's cool, interesting that it sucked back in. The icelandic guys never seemed to have that problem.

In this day and and age with small 12 volt air compressors being so cheap even for a good one ($60.00) I would tend to favour the air compressor as all you have to do with it is plug it into the cigarette lighter plug which is a lot easier than having to remove and replace a spark plug. I carry a small heavy duty one bought from Repco and have used it on a number of occasions but mainly on other peoples vehicles
Re: a different way to blow up your tyres??
I think I still have 2 of those in my garage
They were great the moter ran ok and it did not take too long ...
No substitute for on-board air but great in their time

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
