mitsi swb and diffs

Post by Dave »

Now I hope I can explain this as well as Ive been told so here it is ive got a 97 swb mitsi with a 2.4 petrol same as triton ute ive been told, love the look of the rag top version but needed a truck for work, the only problem with it is it has no diff lock Ive thought about arb lockers and the pros and cons then I met the guys on lincoln rd in chch that sell mitsi parts turns out that the ragtop swb has bigger wheels than mine and a difflock as standard and with a bit of mucking around swapping both diffs etc I can have a whole lot more fun has anyone tried this sort of thing as im keen on geting it done before winter.

:) a couple of questions b4 you start
How long have you been 4 wheelin for?

Why do you want lockers?

My opinion is to get the ARB air locker rather than fluffing around changing the entire drivetrain on your Paj, it will need certification as well, so theres another $500 for that.

Been into 4wd about 3-4 years have a ragtop vitara as well, thought about airlockers first then the idea of swapping diffs etc came up thru a mate at the gym who has done it b4 . Dont know which is best as I know how airlockers work but dont understand the mitsi system

Hi dave

I am by no means an expert, but I looked the idea a while back, and I found that I would of had to change both the front and rear setup. An expensive mad!

Spend the $$ and get a locker, then you have a compressor as well for your tyres :D
