Hilux update! new rear ln60-61 bar

Post by daneo »

Haven't had much progress done on the hilux lately! been spending all my money repairing it rather than upgrading it!, including about 4 alternator repairs this year, 3 within two months! boiling the engine when alternator seized up and stopped the water pump from being turned over (after a very nervous examination appears the head has not cracked! :D ) new windscreen, rear brake cylinder seizing, rebuilding the power steering, new cv's and many other small things which have cost me over $3000.

after the boiling of the engine i have installed an after market boost gauge and an after market temp gauge and a voltage gauge is in the process of being installed so i can actually tell when my alternator is playing up!

also have installed a new momo steering wheel which set me back $250 odd, and have raised the front bull bar up 2" with brackets which was needed after the 2" body lift. will post some pictures if i get around to taking some!

the main update though! is my new rear bar, which i got a local guy named Steve to make up for me, who also made up my bodylift blocks. He has made up a template and has the materials to make up a few more if anyone is interested.

also!, if someone was considering a supra trans plant  (7mgte) i herd that the bell housing to adapt the w58 standard hilux gearbox to the 7m to be very rare to find and to not bother with the conversion until you have found this part first!. theres one on trade me at the moment (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =173925901) that is the correct bell housing yes? and is that a reasonable price or would i be better ringing around all the wreckers in Christchurch?

also if i looked at doing this before a SAS conversion will the motor/sump fit in with the ifs setup or am i going to have to SAS it first before considering an engine transplant (getting sick of the sluggish 2lt-e!)
