Thats what i thought,i was asked by a friend who was a bit keen but i don't know much about them...still looks quite a nice little truck
Have a mate with a later model and a 4.2 in it with spring over ARB lockers and all the good gear he paid $8000 but had to do a little work on it [ not to much ] to get it on the road

i'd say it "seems" steep but in reality its fairly well priced, the lockers and dual air would be the best part of $4k and have you seen how overpriced std 70 series cruisers are these days anyways?? sure a 13bt would be a great donk but without the turbo you loose the grief they can cause ( read: greater reliablity) and to do all the other stuff you certainly couldnt do it to this spec foor that amount!

and no its not mine......

my 7.5c :D
i used to Cruise, now i PATROL

my 2 cent worth. Because of the big diffs and the springs I personally would not have a cruiser.

My understanding is . Apart from the flat deck made for the farmers 70 series cruisers are not availible any more and the older cruisers are apparently increasing in price so the price might not be over the top.

The 13bt was probably the best one made.

Cheers Richard

Toyota have just rehashed the 70 and released a new range - all LWB. They have the flat deck, troopie and wagon with V8 Diesels. Nice trucks.

Prices do seem to be holding for the older 70s tho. I got mine at a bargain and they are still all worth more than that now over a year on.

I agree with Richard on the undercarriage clearance. Over the time I've done very few extra mods from when I bought it so I could see its weaknesses and I'd say my most common issue is those springs so a SOA would be a good option but then you get the top heavy issues. Generally tho for what I do its good and nice and solid. I've never had a breakage that hindered me out on the track, but have towed a few broken people home.
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

That's been on Trademe for months. Personally I think the price is about right. I bought and sold my 73 for less than half that price, however it was missing the lift and air lockers. If it drops back into four figures it would be a nice buy but anyone considering it should remember that the 3B, while almost bulletproof, is a gutless heap with big tahs and without a turbo.

That being said I'd buy it in an instant if I had the funds.

Those Drop shackles are $600 a pair (plus shipping from Aussie)!

I've seen them on a truck up here and they seam to be a great way to get some extra flex out of your leaf sprung vehicle. Would love to get a set for my truck.

I'm sure he has spent far more than the asking price on those mods and looks like a well set up truck. I would think for that money he should be throwing in the second set of Rubber as well (33" Maxxis Bighorns).

Its a fairly competitive market out there at the moment and if you keep your eyes open a bargain will come your way.

Thanks a heap for all the comments, very, very interesting,i did know that it costs heap to do all those mods as i have done the same myself over the years...never ever got any where near my money back when sold
Sounds like maybe still bit pricey but if looking for a great little truck with all the gear it wouldn't be to bad especially if you were going to buy a 4x4 and modefie this on would save yo heaps in the long run

As a starting platform..Its very good value..considering that like everyone has mentioned..to buy and upgrade along the way..you'll be saving a packet..then put in 4 extra cyclinders...
