serpentine vs V belt for offroad use
Does anyone know where in NZ you can buy Billet Specialities or March Pulleys? Im after a serpentine front crank pulley.

let your fingers do the walking thru your credit card and buy them direct .. its cheaper and faster... I just got some parts from Salt Lake City took 6 days to get here takes 5 days to get parts from dorkland ????

check when purchasing these that the water pump rotation is correct or are you just buying the bottom pulley? Have you won the Lotto or is this on a student loan as the are very expensive and could be totally hopeless in an off road application.serpentine front crank pulley.

Haven't won lotto or put it on a student load, Im completely debt free. You think a V bet is going to be better? At the moment I am just buying the bottom crank pulley.

You have made me think DJ, thinking about a 3 groove V pulley, keeps it simple and plenty of room to put things on different belts. No sure yet though.

i reckon serpentine belts are the way to go, i m running one on the front of a v6 running everything, including supercharger,
had 1 shred to destruction, one split over the last 5 years,
never had one flick off,

Maybe Brian Howat could make some up for you..... not sure if it would be cheaper ?

I lost my PS belt at Rotorua in one of the bog holes. That was a 6'V' poly 'V' belt. It was caused by a quite large stick floating into the engine bay. We put it back on and haven't had an issue since. The belt I lost at Whangarei was caused by a seized pulley that fried the belt so that doesn't really count.
Upon saying that, if I had to choose and money wasn't and issue, I would have normal 'V' belts for the crap we get into. In all the years running with the TD42 and V belts I never had a single issue and that was fairly regulary abused.
A serpintine may provide better grip but I'd have 3 V's rather than one (or 2 like I have) poly V belts.

Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

feed a stick thru a single V belt and it would come off, rather have full drive on altenator and supercharger than slippnig belts in the wet
my 0.2c or now days 0.10c
