anybody ran Creepy's On a 70 landcruiser diesel

Post by crizpy »

Hey all , im looking into a set of 35" creepy's on my 3.4 diesel turbo.. Ive read up a few peoples views on them.
ive seen and heard They go well on a safari, so anyonybody got an opinion for them on My cruiser?
I talked to a Couple of tyre shops they said dont go creepy's Ya need to spin them ect ect..
But when im out with The 4x4's They seem to go really well on the safari's 4.2 non turbos Im guessing I would have simular spinning power to turn them..
Ill look at getting them bead-locked to i can run 2psi
im also going from a 33" ..
I thought about trepadors But I would prefer a tyre that i have seen in action and talk to the Users of them for there opinion..
Been saving for ages and cant afford another set so dont wanna make a mistake hahah..
thanks 4 help

Unless the tire shop you deal with actually go 4 wheeling they don't know what a tire is like. Asking guys on here that use the tire you are interested in is worth 100 times more than some nobb in a shop. My old 13bt Cruiser could spin up 36" Simexs but it had been tuned up a bit. If your Cruiser is standard it might struggle a bit on 35's, But it works out close to 1 gear down from 31/33's. At 2 psi you wont need to spin them, It will be a tractor. At 2 psi though, your going to lose all your ground clearance under your diffs. Just let them down till they start to bolge out in the side walls ( differant psi on differant trucks, Weight Etc ) probly about 6/8 psi, I dont know how hard the side walls are on Creepys ?
36" Simex's is as close as I get to gardening

Beauty Ive got a set of 35 creepys being fitted to bead-lock rims all new as we speak :D ..
so hopefully i will get them on before costa plenty , Ill fit them up and see how much clearance i have on them, My rock slider bars wrap around into the rear wheel arches and i think these will need to be chopped and re-braced, and i may need to trim my front guards..
so depending on how well they fit will depend if ill have em on before costaplenty ...
cheers guys

10 minutes on the angle grinder will sort the bars out. If you havent got a 50mm body lift you'll probably have a reasonable amount of guard rub

I have ome springs and extended EFS shackles Im sitting around 3-3.5" lift so hopefully will fit ok,
My bars are Likely to be hollow inside is that right .. so will the angle grinder idea still work and be strong enough ?
ill post up when i get them Thurs/fri how they fit..

Im away all this weekend and sons B-day on the next weekend so Hopefully i get enough time to get 35's ready for the sunday

Got the Creepys on today.. Look mean.. there was enough clearance in the rear even with my slider bars wrapping into wheel arches.. The front is very tight only has a few milimetres till it touches when wheels turned.. i need to cut guards about a cm.. not sure how yet..
took cruiser for a small drive on the road and in Hill areas.. really could not notice much power loss going 33-35 so far ..
and robs done a great job at balancing the new beadlocks, only took it to 70kph but not a single wobble so far..
so far very happy just need to work out the front guards..
any help with that would be good I started another post.
