1990 surf 350 chevy jacked up and currently under construction again
Inside the rear tailgate are a number of sensor switches. If any of these are faulty it will stop the window. You can disconnect most of these and the door will still work, but wont have any safety features (ie window will come out with tail gate down)
There is also a relay controller box behind the passenger side rear panel (behind the storage compartment) This could be faulty. Mine got saturated as water was jetting up trough a drain hole in the rear panel and shorted it out. Its know sealed up.
Also could be the drive motor its self. My one stripped the dive gear slightly and would only go up half way before slipping. I tried to mod it to no avail to make it work again. However I discovered that the drive motor is the same for all the electric windows. I went to the wreckers and got a rear passenger side door motor and bolted it in. Rear window know works sweet as again.
In the states they call what we know as "surfs", "4runners"., when they refer to a "1st generation" its the old 2 door with fi glass rear roof, when they refer to "2nd generation" it's the later 4 door type with a steel roof......anyway here's a link to diagnosing the fault with your window Tim http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks ... ndow.shtml
