186 holden to RB30 conversion for landy
186 holden to RB30 conversion for landy
Hey I was wanting to know if the bell housing and clutch setup from the existing 186 holden conversion to landy running gear would fit up to an RB30 engine.
Any ideas anyone?

na, they are completely different unfortunately. What you can do though is get an injected 202 out of a later model vk commy and whack that in. A small peice needs to get cut out of the footwell to clear the inlet manifold but other than that they bolt in. Going from a carby 186 to a injected 202 completely transformed my truck, and i thoroughly reccomend it to anyone else with a holden powered landy. I convinced someone else with a jeep to do it and hes very happy with the result

Which engine is the RB30? Pulling a RD28 from a rangie soon, (LD28 was the earlier conversion), bolts up the the ole 4spd on the rangie. feeling flushed so going back to 3.5 carb, would of been a 3.9efi, but some loser ore owner nabbed it

rb30's a petrol motor, commonly used by boy racers to whack huge turbos on and get insane amounts of power :p

So just to get back on topic incase you missed that in the off topic drivel spat at each other
. Make rex an offer on his RD28 bellhousing and bits as the RB30 should bolt up with it . They are the same block design I believe , there is a thread on here about a guy swaping a rb30 into his 2.8 nissan diesel powered patrol .

The RB30/25 and RD28 should all bolt up to the same gearboxes.
I've got an RB30 block at the moment, which in the long run will get an RB25DET head etc bolted on and then thrown in the Safari (long term plan) Unless I find a cheap GU gearbox for a TD42 so I can go that way instead

So your going rip an RD28 out of your landy to put a 3.5 rover in, leaving you with a bell housing and clutch to get off your hands which should bolt to a standard landy 4spd box and any RB/RD series engine.
Re: 186 holden to RB30 conversion for landy
Making it fit might not be too hard.
Making everything downstream hold together would be a bit more of a challenge.

What would a complete 3.9 with auto, radiator, all accessories and all computers and wiring looms from a complete disco be worth? Just out of interest

Re: 186 holden to RB30 conversion for landy
maybe i should bolt a 173 head on. Instant high compression
. Another thing I was wondering, does the injection kit from a 202 fit onto a 186?

yes it will do. I had planned on doing that before finding a 202 with everything on it, but you will need the 202 head and to drill out a couple of water galleries.
