Solenoid or Diode Battery Isolator?

Post by Sako »

Hi - looking at mounting my warn winch to the truck, which thankfully is already running dual batteries, and confused whether a solenoid is best or diode battery isolator is best. I understand the idea here is not to have 2 flat batteries so isolating the one that does the starting from the one that does the winching is good, and an isolator allows the alternator to charge up the winch battery afterwards, no? Do I also need a voltage regulator or will I just need the solenoid or diode isolator.

Cheers
Bob

VSR relay is the best option
Voltage Senative Relay, senses voltage of run batt whn changed VSR closes and changes back up batt
have fitted a number to boats and hose docters trucks and none had any problems

can get from a marine, auto sparkys shop
