I have a 1994 swb with the 2.8 turbo diesel, it goes well... I have heard horror stories about them but no experience of one myself. Mine is a jap import, had 100,000 km when I bought it, first nz owner, had ll the servicing done and was told the auto filter had never been replaced, its unlikely that it had a good sevice history in Japan, with me its oil every 5,000 km, filter every 10,000 and auto (fluid and filter) every 20,000.

My brother and his father-in-law both had earlier pajeros, 2.5 diesels and both had the head crack on them.

I had a 87/88 2.5 and they were okay, went through three motor's, first one was dead when we brought it, second one was a donor motor till we found a better one, and the third one is still in it as far as I know and it is still going strong...
