Buggered Vacuum Pump

Post by curly12 »

Lost brake's this morning on the way to work in the Whale.
Appears that my vacuum pump has given up the ghost.
Has anyone got a spare alternator/vacuum pump that they want to sell???

After much searching on the net it seems that the spline would of stripped off the shaft for the pump. Can that be checked before I remove the pump??? Also can it be repaired???

Better off pricing up a new one curly, with second hand the only problem is that it might happen again. You may be surprised at the price of new, then again it may be horrendous and you'll be better off to get a second hand one

Places I would try:

Nissan (dare i say it)
BNT
Partmaster
hutt city autoparts

For second hand:

ANL autospares LTD

Thats a start anyway

Partsworld up here in Palmerston North have been pretty good for Nissan parts for me in the past - 06 3579799 at 100 Armstrong Street.

Also, Toyo Niss have got stuff for Nissans - 06 3520069 at 1 Keith Street

Last time I was in at Toyo Niss they had a few safaris in their yard.

Sorry I don't have time to check them out on your behalf as I got some work on today

Right, sorted and fixed.

New rotor fitted to alternator. The alternator can be fixed and if the replacement part had of been on-hand it would of only been a 45min job, from start to up and running again.

Cost $220

Problem part

You can see the gears worn away

Just a case of swapping it with a new one :D :D :D
