Just went to start ma cruiser and it wont start. Took it out on saturday down the ashley and it ran mint, was driving round in it yesterday with no probs. It turns over, it puts out alot of black smoke, sounds like it wants to start, runs then stops . Can anyone help me out Thanks Rich

also just checked the airbox aswel, thats clear. will check the hotbox when i get some day light, what does this actually do. thought id ask ma flat mate but he wasnt much help.

it has a heating element in it .it preheats the diesel before it enters the combustion chamber .it has a timer and will glow for a couple of minutes after the motor is running .sucks lots of electrical power to.means you dont need glow plugs

have a word to dean, his did a similar thing and im pretty sure john showed him a plug/way to bypass the timer and its been sweet since.

yea mine did that for a bit i replaced the earth straps.there is also 2 points where the got box gets power and earths,mine was not earthing properly,i havent had any problems since.Just give everything a good clean,the black coming out the ass is just diesel
Sweet, iv just managed to get it to runing but its going like a bag of s#@t like 3 cylinders, when you take ya foot off the gas itil just stall. will this still be to do with hotbox and the fuel not getting warm. Rich

i would of thought that like glow plugs it only heats for start up and once you get it going it should run fine without it?? I think thats what the timmer is all about so its not on all the time. It didn't get really low on diesel and suck a heap of shit up did it? or suck up some water?

Have you had a look at the fuel filter? If it hasn't been changed for a while it may be clogged up. There is a drain plug in the bottom of the filter, loosen it off and see what comes out should hopefully be diesel but could be water etc. If nothing comes out then its probably blocked and time for a new one. The other thing worth checking is air in the fuel rail. When its running loosen the nut on top of one of the injectors and let some diesel run out of it. This will purge any air trapped in the system. Others things you could look at if this doesn't help- you may have shitty diesel or a diesel bug or the motor might be fucked Fingers crossed for a blocked fuel filter aye
Had abit of a look around, still abit lost when it comes to diesels ma mate was meant to come round but hes bailed, if anyone wants to make some cash and maybe get ma truck going again send me a text or call 021881229. Rich.

even something as simple as a loose banjo bolt fitted somewhere in the fuel supply.. my 13Bt would run ok at high (above idle) revs then stall out and be a shit to re-start! i did all the fuel filters etc ( recommended as well as air filters etc) and it still died... turned out tthe bolt holding the fuel line from the injector pump to the fuel filter was finger tight... would be ok at revs, but at idle would suck air and stall....
Thanks everyone for all the advice, removed the terminals from the hotbox box cleaned them, cleaned some of the plugs, but in the dark i cant have tighened them proplerly cos i noticed the were still loose. also removed fuel filter thought it was weird that it was only half full. wound out nipple and pumped diesel through it. Turned it over and she fired up.
