Commodore 3.8 HELP!!

Post by COMILUX »

Hey guys.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Ive got a holden 3.8v6 from a VR commodore in my hilux.
A weekend or two a go it stoped on me while throwing it around in the mud.
At the start it would idle fine and rev fine but when under load wouldnt rev atal and then it stoped and wont start any more.
Has no spark or injector pulse so replaced crank sensor and still no go.
Makes me think it might be ecu but how could i diagnose this without buying one and trying it?
Any other posabilitys that it might me? Anyone had similar problems before?
Does anyone have a vr engine ecu in chch that i could maybe borow to plug in to see if its the problem.
Any help would be great.

Thanks
Nick

Has it got the factory ecu or an aftermarket one?
Holden ecu's are super simple for those who know their way around them. (the v6 I believe is a 1 wire hook up). There is a holden wrecker in Gasson st who may be able to help you out with another (or loaner) box

i was gonna say coil pack as well.... Nailz on here had a RX7 with a 3.8 which developed similar syptoms, and it was coil pack, turned out ants had made a home in it....
but if you swapped coil packs then obviously not that.
