Gidday to all
I'm in Auckland trying to get my toy going so I can get into some 4wding.
Bought my 76 SWB FJ40 running standard 2F about 3 years ago, had to put project on hold will built two houses and now I've finally got some time to get back into it and get away from the wife
So far I've had the chassis stripped and some rusted damged bits repaired and certifed (I want to have it road legal)
Have replaced the suspension and shocks with a 2' lift, keeping the original 6cyl for now but eventually want to put on extractors and better carb
replaced the old front drums with 60 series disk and am in the process of putting in 60 series ps and linkages
Chucked away the cancer ridden tub and got a reasonable 1983 tub which is off to the panel beater next week hopefully to get tidied up and a coat of paint (been sand blasted already) so my next problem is modifying the chassis mounting brackets to suit the slightly different layout/positioning something I have to think over and at the same time give the chassis tub clearance an extra 25mm
Hopefully won't be to long before I can get going and have some fun
I know its not as adventurace as some of the things I've read in here but its a start to bigger better things...
Takes me a bit longer to get stuff done since I'm not a fabricator/welder but can operate a grinder realy well!!
Looking forward to bashing around some tracks

welcome to the forum Martyn and it sounds like you've already found the difference between the pre 1980 and post 1980 tubs, fuel tanks springs and all the rest of it

Very good reason for that though isn't there PR? No one has ever had a Nissan last long enough to need it

Welcome aboard fella. If you troll through you will find lots of useful info ( and lots of and lots of garbage) on the most common 4wd rigs in NZ.
