Not much done tonite...But I did get the PS cooler and reservoir mounted. Plumbed it all in, filled with PS fluid. Bled it by going from lock to lock 20 times with motor off, topped up the fluid then did the same with motor running. Seems to be good

Is the swirl pot reservoir of your making or part of the PS kit?
Me thinks you have been a race car techie in some dark distant past?

Keep up the story and piccys!
Oh and the pills and ointment, they must be good shit cos you've been on this for longer than most would bother with!
Looking forward to seeing this rig down south at some time.

I've still got them, they are too stiff for rockcrawling, airshocks are far more tunable and cheaper to tune also, good for a winch truck tho. I've got other plans for them :D

Front driveshaft has to be lengthened and strengthened, so its into the lathe we go.
Here's the bits before...

During

And after
Image

Strangely enough the rear one will look the same just a fraction longer
One of the advantages of linked suspension is the lack of driveshaft slip required 8)

Finally got my rear driveshaft finished, had to machine the guts out of it to give me more angle, still cant get enough for max droop, so I'll have to run a centre limiter, its fine so long as its not on max droop with both wheels. :x i changed the shaft around when I re-tubed it so the slip joint is at the top, not at the diff end down in the rocks and shit, tube is 5mm wall thickness   Double Carden joint is fully rebuilt with new bearings and crosses.

Most of the inner is still there, well ok, some :D I'll fill in the rest with plastic or rubber sheet

Did the tunnel tonite, its made out of 2mm, which is much thicker than it should have been, it was a real pain in the ass to get in, but with a floor jack and ratchet tiedown, it all worked out.

Battling with it
Image

Finally in and welded pass side
Image

All done, seats mounted properly. I dunno if there's enough room to fit the sticks to g-box and tf's yet, might need some trimming.

Just to be a smart ass, but you must have really loooong arms and legs!!!!

Image

Nah seriously, its going to be cool to see what you do with the shift leavers and the pedal box, i see the steering wheel shaft is extended back to the right position for the seating, the pedals look like they are gonna have to be waaay back in the dor opening some where, and the front shift leaver is going to have to be a lot further back so you can reach it with harnesses on.

Which brings me to another point, how are you gonna reach the switches you have mounted on the dash from way back there with harnesses on??

I reckon seeing as you've got the monster tunnel, you should mount all the switches between the seats on the tunnel

Anyways, busting to see what happens, this better than a good book

I've already checked all that out DB, I'm 6'4" so a Hilux cab is too short anyway :D The steering column is stock length, what you see as an extension is jut a collar that replaces the ignition key barrel etc. The pedals are stock with the exception that the brake m/c is tilted up a little to help clear the shock hoop with the longer FJ80 m/cyl. Oh, and the clutch pedal is a shortened zook brake pedal coz it bends away from the tunnel. Heres some pics of my sorry ass in place
The shift levers, if anything, are further back than stock as the engine is moved back about 50mm
