well its like this ya see, I was sitting there minding my own business.. well trying to not fall asleep watching the tv when i get this txt from a young guy i'd met a few weeks ago (think 87surf but this guy drives a Nissan  ) well the txt said . "cn u give us a tow bro" seems this young guy was out the back of the old dump showing off to his girlfriend and had decided to try and go thru this swappy ditch to take a short cut back onto the road

Except he had it it straight on at full noise in his Nissan Narava D/cab ute, the area in question is really really boggy if you sand on the grass and jump up and down it feels like your on a waterbed, the only thing stopping you from going into the mangrove swap underneith is the thick mat of grass  anywaays hedd managed to bury the nose of his d/cab into the far bank and leave his rear wheels *just* touching the ground .. he wasnt going nowhere!! .. so I toddle off into town a good 25km trip for me and find the guy sitting in his ute (prob getting a new one chewed from his mrs in the back seat.)

I get there and by this time it's dark (of course) and see that theres noooo way hes going to be able to come forward thru the ditch onto the road ..not without leaving half his bumper in the ditch .. so i try manage to folow the track across the boggy ground he had taken (even in the ultra light Fez I could feel her wanting to break thru the crust).. he of course had hit it a full noise and had momentum on his side. finally managed to get close enough to run the winch out to his rear end (no way could i snatch it cause of the soft boggy ground .. spinn the wheels and your thru the crust and bogged yourself... no rated tow hooks of course sigh ... so had to wrap the winch extionsion strap around one of the towbar mounts.

Hooked everything up and dampend everything down so if things did let go i wouldnt cop a snatch block thru the windscreen. had to double winch anyway as the Feroza only has a 5000lb winch and the Nissan D/cab prob weighed twice her weight. anyway tryed to winch it out with everyone clear to start with but the weight of the D/cab and suction just dragged the little Fez along the ground ... time for plan B

Got the young guy to try and drive at the same time as I winched ... nothing seemed to happen for a few minutes (apart from the Fez getting dragged closer and closer to the ditch. i was just about to stop and run the winch out again when we must have hit a slight more solid spot cause the D/cab started to move .. very very slowly with the combination of the winch and him driving the Nissan inched out of the ditch

Got to admit for a 1300Kg Daihatsu with a "toy" 5000lb winch she can sure pull ... thats the second 4x4 ive had to recover from this particular place the last one was a 3.2L Bighorn

so thats my weekend so far .. what really peed me of was i had spent about 2 hours yesterday morning washing, waxing and cleaning the Fez cause my wifes car is in for work this week and she needed to borrow mine .. real estate agents have to have clean cars aparently .. not sure why personally :wink
yeah yeah I know No photo's so it didnt happen ... only had my phone camera with me and that takes really really crappy night photos.

Went to Deadwoods yesterday to act as a recovery wagon, made a bad judgement call, nearly killed myself and my three passengers. Took some photos and have posted those. Over it now, catch you all later

Got truck finished in time for scrutineering, passed no worries, rocked up to trial and drove, truck went bloody well once there were six injectors firing petrol in, discovered 3rd gear and was away, lockers bit me twice, once with a warning by sliding off the track that my bloody car could drive, and again by throwing me sideways and rolling 1.5 times down a hill. no real damage, slight crack in the new fibre glass, and Kruste testing his helmet on a tree stump. truck is defintely lighter, more responsive to gas pedal, stays on sidlings, climbs better, no hang up on front or rear end, one small issue of cooling system struggling to keep up but should be easily fixed, bigger fans
