Odlins Rd

This id from another site, not familiar with the area but others will be...

DOC has asked that people don't cross the Five day slip on Odlins Road.

Offically vehicle access stops at Renata ridge, not the hut.

We know its a great drive however lets keep DOC happy. Its there support that allows us to use some of these tracks.

what site is it from? ive been quite a bit past the hut but im unsure where renata ridge is...

i think renata ridge is the tank traps and doc said the same thing a year ago :roll:

and without warning signs up the bush how do guys know ?......

i remember someone saying that they have tried to put up signs but people keep shooting them. there was a sign at the tank traps ages ago saying that it was for offroad vehicles only, that doesnt say to me that its not open...

hi there have only been up that track once as i live local your not allowed to go past the five day slip because some dude rolled his cruzer and died and it was very unsafe to cross but he did anywayz.... foolish

correct it was the otaki side of odlins road ,which many years ago went all the way through to otaki gorge road,but these days shes only safe for trampers and youd be suprised how many huts are hiding up there for example the renata ridge hutt (near the tank traps).........
