new 60 surf in Puke

Post by J_Dub »

Hey all been browsing here a while, under a diff user name. Got a new name now, so thought i would proper introduce myself. Jareds the name, getting dirty is my game :D Im 26 and Recently purchased a 60 surf, fully recoed 3y, l.p.g setup, rear l.s.d, diff breathers, 33" muds. goes real well and am keen to get out with some Auck locals, any advice on easy mods to these 60s would be appreciated, i want to do a spring lift in the very near future, so let me know best springs and long travel shocks to get. Then looking at front locker, will be re-tightening the rear l.s.d shortly. I live in Pukekohe so let me know where all the action is at.

Cheers Sadam, plenty of modded 60s on here i see.
So to all you hilux familiar people...... i am able to purchase springs and shocks very shortly, a mate can get me a good deal through a mate who reps for Auck suspension specialists. Whats the best off the shelf srpings/ shocks to buy??? i want to get better travel and also improve road manners, these standard 60s are rock hard on the road, so what length shock or travel should i bee looking at???

Nothing off the shelf will improve the travel and ride harshness by a considerable amount.
If I was in your shoes, I would be spending my money on the RUF (rears up front) and falcon wagon springs in rear.
Problem you have then is that it rides well, and travel is good so you need to either ditch the absolutely stupid push- pull steering, and go cross over, or flip the balljoint on the C arm (beware though, C arms are shit and break through the king pin holes over time, so I would cross over).
You will then have a really good club truck that will be capable (tyres and traction dependent) to foot it with the best of them.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

that is something i have considered, and after reading in here seems to be the best option, though i guess it would be more expensive and i gota find someone in auckland who would do it, all the enginneer/fab gurus for that sorta thing seem to be down the sth island. What would be a general figure ide be looking at dollar wise? ive read supralux's write ups and theres not alot of work involved, especially for someone whos already done it.
